Forget Avatar at AK, how about more Lion King?Walt Disney World: Lion King could have a bigger presence at Animal Kingdom
From Mark Fairleigh
Saw a report that Disney is possibly reconsidering it's plans for Avatar at Animal Kingdom. The gist of the report was that after all the planning had started it might have become evident that Avatar just isn't a good fit for AK. I'm not an Avatar fan, so this announcement never had me excited, but this rumour had me wondering why another film doesn't have a greater presence in AK, that being Lion King.Posted March 13, 2012 at 6:52 PM It's arguably Disney most successful film and has all the elements perfect for AK, so why just one excellent show? Why not a whole land themed to it? I understand Africa is pretty well-represented already, but people come to AK for that Disney-theme, as much, as any realistic experience. You could have a ride centered around the wildebeest stampede in the gorge for instance. Or a kid-friendly ride featuring Timon and Pumba. Your thoughts?

I think that is a good idea but I would rather see beastly kingdom come to animal kingdom. Posted March 13, 2012 at 6:59 PM

Mark: Excellent concept. It sure makes a lot of sense. Wonder why Disney didn't think of that? Dom: You're back.Posted March 13, 2012 at 7:35 PM

Not a bad idea, but my only gripe was your suggestion of making a ride based on one the film's darkest scenes. Posted March 13, 2012 at 7:52 PM

Oh wow, you're right, James. To be honest it's been a looooong time since I've seen the movie and totally forgot the context of that scene, so I agree that wouldn't be appropriate. Posted March 14, 2012 at 7:21 PM
