Universal Creative or Disney's Imagineers?

Take your pick!

If you were forced to chose between Universal's creative staff and Disney's imagineers staff who would you chose as your favorite? Keep in mind what rides the teams have made and how long it takes to make them!

This is a pretty tough decision. While I greatly enjoy the work that both sides have done, I would have to choose Disney Imagineers only because I've recently seen what they've been up to lately. While I haven't been to Universal in a while. This should change the next time I go to Orlando.

Judging from the lack of new & innovative rides at the Disney parks, I would have to say Universal has the edge lately. It seems like Disney is banking on meet & greets.

Cars Land was a major feat of imagineering, but the Orlando area needs some new excitement to keep up.

A new permit is filed every week to start work on something new at USF. Now there is talk of two more attractions where Fear Factor and Tony Hawk now stand (Twitter rumors only). I am starting to think USF has lost its collective mind with all of the simultaneous projects, but Comcast is signing blank checks and wants to do it all at once (and at break neck speed). Some say work is going on 24/7 at Transformers (or whatever it will be) and Potter phase 2.

Who knows... if Avatar land is actually built, it could be spectacular. Disney has enough guests pouring in the gates these days. It will be interesting to see if USF can put a dent in thier attendance numbers when all of this actually opens.

Ryan, you may want to hold off until all of the expansion is finished. I am considering it myself.

Universal Creative - of Course!

Little to choose between them but Disney's Imagineers may have a better range of subject matter to work with which gives them the edge.

Imagineering. They've been around for over 55 years and they are still the best,

Because so many former Disney Imagineers now work for Universal, I would say it is a wash. I would add that Universal Creative is more focused on individual attraction design, while Disney Imagineers cater more towards whole park experiences. Both have their place, and both are outstanding at what they do.

Universal Creative has by far the best setup and allows for the creatives to shine through over the bureaucracy.

WDI could very well have the better designers, but they're hidden behind redtape, and the egos of WDI's leadership.

If WDI trimmed a lot of the fat from themselves, and started consistently putting out a superior product, maybe I'd give it to them.

As is, Uni Creative is whooping them.

I remember first hearing about Imagineering when I was about 10 years old. I thought it would be so cool to do that for a job when I grew up! The Imagineers have a long storied history and have an extremely large portfolio of great projects under their belt, but in recent years my interest has shifted to Universal Creative. They have made some impressive rides and immersive lands and they are keeping their foot on the gas!!! So as of right now, I'd have to lean towards Universal Creative. That being said, if either Universal Creative or Disney Imagineers handed me a job tomorrow, I'd take either in a heartbeat!!! :-)

I have to give it to Imaginearing. However, Universal Creative has many former Imaginears and has created some great rides and lands (Spiderman, Port of entry, Lost Continent). Imaginearing however has created Disneyland Paris, Tower of Terror, Expedition Everest, and above all, Tokyo Disney Sea. Without a doubt Imaginearing has created superior attractions and lands. I find the length of time for construction an interesting, but minor point. Disney does tend to take longer, but is the Imaginear's faults? Probably not. However, the new Harry Potter land is already looking on par, maybe even better than the best lands in Islands of Adventure. We'll have to wait and see...but as of now, Imaginearing.

Disney Imagineers of course! Because they have flying hippos in the mix!

While Universal Creative has some good years, Disney Imaginnering has a better overall track record.

Also, remember that the Lost Continent with Dueling Dragons and the mix were supposed to go at Animal Kingdom

Anthony, that really isn't true. A Dragon coaster was going to go into Beastly Kingdomme, but it would have looked nothing like Dueling Dragons.

Actually, Dueling Dragons was going to go to AK, but two fired Imagineers gave the idea to UC.

No, it wasn't. Dueling Dragons was never designed for DAK.

Dragon Tower was, but would have been closer to Expedition Everest than DD.

There are Hidden Mickeys on the trains. That enough proof for you?

Dominick, look at Beastly Kingdom concept art. While the basic idea and a few ideas from it did go into the Lost Continent, much of it did not.

Dom, you can find hidden Mickeys anywhere if you look hard enough. Dueling Dragons was NEVER designed to go into DAK.
