Disneyland: A rumored Oz land at Disneyland dropped for a Star Wars land instead?

Harry Knowles at Aint It Cool News reported today on a possible stand alone Star Wars movie and in the article dropped a hint/rumor about a new Disneyland land at the same time. Supposedly there have been plans in the works for an Oz area/ride but those are now on hold to work on a Star Wars section at California Adventure. Star Wars has been mentioned as a possibility before, but I've never heard Oz. What do you think about the possibility of an Oz Disney area/ride?

Possible spoiler to a future Star Wars movie inside the link:

I've always said the original movie would lend itself well to a simulator or FJ type ride. A land might be overkill, but anything Oz related in a theme park would appeal to me.

On a separate, Star Wars-related note, Stuart Freeborn died at 98. He was the make-up man who had a large hand in creating Yoda, Chewbacca, Jabba The Hutt, and others.

And the new Oz movie is previewing in the muppet theater in DCA.....

Technically, I think a full land "could" work, I mean there's an entire emerald city to explore (and you could even have a black & white Kansas part of the land)

As far as a single ride, there are also plenty of options.

I'm not opposed to a land or ride!! I'd prefer Star Wars, but as you know, I'm a fan of anything original, lol

A theme park area based on the Land of Oz?

Meh. Been there, done that.

(actually, I have been there. I have about two pieces of memories of the place. I couldn't have been older than four or five...)

They could do a full land for Wizard of Oz, but unless the new movie does well I don't think it would be that big of a draw. Star Wars has a much larger fanbase and would draw a lot more people to the park, but I think the resort needs to focus their attention on Disneyland now. It hasn't recieved a new ride in a while and hasn't recieved a new headliner attraction in nearly twenty years. DCA is good for now, so I think Disneyland should have a couple major attractions and/or a new land added before the next DCA project. Whether that be Oz, Star Wars, or something else, however, as long as it's good I'm okay with it.

I'm always tempted to go up for that weekend they have it open, but it seems like it may just be sad. Closed theme parks just aren't fun.

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm gonna go see what's going on at Hard Rock Park.
