Universal Orlando: Advice?

Will be visiting the first weekend in May & am wondering how easily I will find food in the parks that is not derived from animals?

I'm not a vegan or vegetarian, but there are a couple restaurants, plus you can ask to order a meal with no meat.

I am not aware of any vegan certifications for Universal restaurants. However, some restaurants do have vegan offerings, but with seasonally changing menus at many of the restaurants likely to have those dishes, you'd have to check closer to the time of your trip. Mythos (IOA) and Finnegans (USF) are going to be your best chances in the park, while Emeril's and Latin Quarter are the most likely CityWalk restaurants with vegan options. Some of the resort restaurants might also have vegan options, but again many of those restaurants have seasonal menus.

I'm a vegetarian, and I know Mythos at Islands of Adventure has some good vegan pad thai, unless the menu has recently changed. When I recently had dinner at Lombards, there were stars by certain dishes that could be prepared either vegan or gluten free, but of course, I just chose one of the meatless options. For quick-service, I have no clue. Last quick service I had was just cheese pizza (which you obviously cannot have).

Though, it's easy to play it safe by just leaving the parks and eating in CityWalk, which helps to diversify your options of finding something vegan. Last time I was at Universal Orlando (about a month ago) we just left the park and ate at Margaritaville, where I had a mushroom burger.

A mushroom burger? Never expected to find that at Universal.

Going to CityWalk is a great idea. I think most people don't understand the close compact nature of Universal Orlando. Leaving a park and going to CityWalk is like walking from Adventureland to Tomorrowland at the Magic Kingdom.

It was a grilled mushroom top, unless they lied to me. But it sure tasted like it.

I doubt you are the first Vegan to go to Universal, nor the last.
