T2 3d, and Sherek 4d replacement?
Universal Orlando: It's Time for USO to let go of Terminator 2 3D, and Shrek 4D. Let me know what you all think of this idea, and if so what should be its replacement?
Shrek 4D and Terminator 2 3D are two of Universal Orlando's rides that have to go. Shrek 4D will probably not be replaced for a while, but Terminator 2 3D in Hollywood is being replaced with Despicable me. Which is already a ride in Florida, will Universal Orlando be taking down the outdated T2 ride and be replaced with something new and unique or will they decide to hold onto it for another decade?
I can see Shrek going in the near future but Terminator is here to stay since it's still an active IP, and unlike the Hollywood version, it's in pretty good shape.

What Dom said, Shrek I could see being changed into whatever IP is popular now, but T2 is gonna stay, at least for a couple of more years, till something really really big comes to replace it
Shrek will probably have a few more years as Zi don't really seed a new kids animated IP coming soon that will be popular enough.

Who (or what) is Zi? And why does he/she/it have seeds? Or was that a typo?
T2 is still a great show & gets good attendance. Shrek is prominently displayed in Universal Orlando's advertisements, so I don't see it's demise in the near future. Plus, it also is still popular with the general public attendance wise, whose views weight the most.
Mike, I think that was a typo for I. How to Train Your Dragon is certainly a popular IP right now, maybe that could be a replacement?
Sorry. That was autocorrect. But, I really don't see How To Train Your Dragon being as popular as Shrek.
Well they have Transformers opening this year followed by More Harry Potter in 2014, so I don't think anything is going to be changed anytime soon. Maybe in 2015 or 16 they might close Terminator to make room for something new in 2016 or later.
I could truly see Shrek going or something else closing in late 2013 or sometime in 2014 in either IOA or USO to make room for something in 2015, than something else probably at IOA in 2016.
Strongest rumors for 2015 are an IOA JP expansion.
While a JP expansion seems likely, I have a good feeling it won't get off the ground.
With Jurassic Park 4 set for a summer 2014 release, a JP expansion could be popular if the movie does well.
More or less if the movies good. It will make money, but it might not be to good.

Quality doesn't matter, case in point, Transformers (ALL 3 OF THEM SUCK).
What about replacing T2 with a Wicked themed attraction?
Yes, but Transformers has been around a heck of a lot longer than the Michael Bay movies. Yes, the ride is pretty much based on the movies, but Transformers as a whole has a stronger fan base that reaches beyond the movies.
And honestly, the 1st movie was not that bad.
The Transformers movies did what they were intended to do, namely, get a huge box office and make lots of money. Basically, the same aim as the Universal attraction. Heh, Carsland was one of the weakest Pixar movies, but it had a big box office and the attraction gets a lot of people in the park.
I'm basing the off the Bay movies since that's what the ride is based on, but Transformers is a good IP outside of the Bay movies.
I enjoyed the first and third Transformers movies.

First Transformers was fairly decent popcorn fare. It certainly wasn't high art, but it worked on some levels & is the only one I really liked out of the franchise.
Obviously the second one....the one that even Bay & the cast apologized for....seems to be the barometer & prime example when referencing the franchise.
I actually enjoyed Cars....so I really like Carsland.
Obviously, certain franchises (hp, star wars, etc.) are stronger, but when it comes to theme parks, even a weak project (waterworld, transformers) can make a great attraction.
Why not have a new story on Shrek 4d, it has been the same since it has been there, I still enjoy it but a new story would help. T2 isn't fun unless I can sit in the front row and get blasted by the fog. I wish I liked The Transformers movies better, but I am sure it will be a great ride, I am not a Harry Potter fanatic either but I like Hogsmeade. As much as I liked the movie I think Twister is the weakest attraction in the studios. I have always thought it would make a good back to the future style ride, you in the yellow jeep chasing twisters.
I wonder how Transformers will compare to Spiderman. Has anybody ridden both?
Shannon they are very similar. Felt like the same course with different scenes. Rode it 3 times with no wait and that was enough for me. I got bored with it. Don't get me wrong it's a great ride but it was to similar to Spiderman.
