One day for Magic Kingdom and Epcot?
Walt Disney World: To save money, just wondering if a family of 5 adults can do both the Magic Kingdom and Epcot in one day??

There is a huge price difference between the cost of a 1-day park hopper pass and a 2-day park hopper pass for WDW. To save money, just wondering if a family of 5 adults can do both the Magic Kingdom and Epcot in one day?? Also, What to pick- Illumations or Electric Parade?? Thanks!!
It's doable. First you'll needto go in the morning to Epcot to get Test Track and Soarin done, then take the monorail to MK and do the headliners, then anything else. Save World Showcase for the late afternoon.
You asked this very question in your previous thread..right below this. It's not my site and I don't police it. But I'm reasonably certain I'm not alone in finding it irksome.

Thanks Dominick for your help! Can be stressful trying to plan when it's your first time. I will definitely take your timing suggestion.
actually i did it this year. My sister I and my bro went to disney for 4 days. First day flew into MCO got our room at the Pop Century and went out to eat that night. Next day got up early went to epcot rode soarin, misson to space and did the countries. Test track was closed at the time. We had a snack in Itally and took the monorail to Magic Kingdom and stayed at the park til 12 even thoo it was open to 2 we were died tired but yes it is possible and epcot such a small park get their early and you can totally do this in one day.

I hope you're not serious. EPCOT is one of the largest theme parks in the world by area. It's essetially 2 theme parks (Futureworld and World Showcase) combined into one. I think it's no problem to visit both EPCOT and Magic Kingdom in the same day if you've been to either park before, but if it's you're first time, both of these parks can be seriously overwhealming, especially in the height of summer.
Not only that, but you're suggesting the double switch by starting in EPCOT, going to Magic Kingdom, and then back to EPCOT for Illuminations. While completely possibly, a first timer would be killing themselves trying to do this and still enjoy the day. You're going to spend over an hour just getting between the parks on the monorail (30 minutes or more each way).
First timers should stick with one park per day unless you're staying on property and taking advantage of Magic Hours.

No, you cannot "do" Epcot and Magic Kingdom in a single day.
Based on some of the comments in this and your other post, it sounds like you might just be looking for some good thrill rides and not the full-on theme park experience. If that supposition is the case, go to Busch Gardens instead of the Orlando parks. It really has the best collection of thrill rides (coasters) in Florida - and it can be accomplished in a single day if you start early.
Otherwise, just visit Epcot or the Magic Kingdom (not both), and enjoy a pleasant, immersive, amazing day.
Agree with most other comments here, it's probably not a good idea. OK, if you have been to both parks before and you can select certain rides/shows, then maybe it's possible, but otherwise you are not going to do either park justice and will be totally tired out (and maybe quite stressed). Also, you wont be able to do fireworks/illuminations/electrical parade across both parks and choosing between them is..well..whichever you don't do you will be missing a great display. During the busier times it can be a push just to do either of them fully in a day - at a comfortable and leisurely pace. You mention one and two day park hopper ticket prices - how about a 2 day non-hopping ticket and just do one park per day - that should save some money wont it?
Of course you can “do” both in one day. Yes, you will miss things but I do not get the impression Vic is asking if 5 adults can see every ride and attraction. For people who can only afford a one day park hopper there are ways to see quite a bit in both parks. Better than just going to one park, in my opinion.
To answer your question, Vic, I would pick IllumiNations over Electrical Parade since you can only see one.

Can you? Yes you can. I have many times although I've been to those parks a 100 times each. If you know where you're going and how to get around, know when to get your ride passes, get there when the park opens and hussle up all day. But why do that, especially with children. Best advice be at the Magic Kingdom gates when they open and stay there until they close. You will more than get your money's worth. Next day get up and go to Epcot, arriving when they open the gates. Plenty to do and see and you will have a full day at each park to see it all.
As always my old friend Mr. Rao gives the best advice here. Go to Busch Gardens you will be glad you did. As for my old nemesis Mr. Creative well I see you are still your old contrarian self. As for me, well, let's just say I made the absolute most of the slow days at Disney to see and do it all many times over.
It would certainly be interesting to read a trip report from a first time visitor with a party of 5 who's trying to squeeze in both Magic Kingdom and Epcot in one day.
