Walt Disney World: Is Lion King closed to be moved?
I'm sure most of you know the answer to this, so this should be a short answer. Is Festival of the Lion King closed?

Yeah, that was cheap of me.
Looks like it's open as of today, but Screamscape has hinted that it will be closing soon. No clue if Disney has confirmed or denied any of that.
Tomorrow, of course, is another day.
FOTLK will probably close in September and move to make way for
Avatarland Dagobah/Naboo.
There were some postings on the net a few days ago concerning the area that they were tentatively moving the new Lion King theatre to. It will be to the left after getting off the bridge next to the Dawa Bar in Africa. Its a very large area bounded in the back by a service road. Seems that they delayed the closing of the show to around Sept. ,as Dominick pointed out, instead of early this winter. So its possible the new location may be ready in time. They just did auditions last month for cast members. Hopefully, there isn't much down time since there's not all that many attractions in Animal Kingdom and its surely an excellent show.
From everything that I've heard, Lion King is not closing to move until the new theater is finished. This, in theory, would also mean a 6 month delay for starting construction on Avatarland.
Stupid me. I saw the subject line and thought the question might be about Avatar or Cars Land.

The title was misleading.
Geez, Mike. Can't you keep things straight? I mean really, don't you understand the Disney business model? Let me help you.
Disney deliberately underbuilt DCA over a decade ago not because they thought they could ride on the coattails of Disneyland and soak their West Coast customers but because they were planning a grand repair and salvation effort along the lines of the New Coke/Classic Coke marketing ploy from the 80s. Now that they have finally built the park up to what it should have been in the first place, Disney fans are in an orgy of adulation, and can't wait to throw their money at Disney like a drunk guy at an ugly stripper in a "gentlemen's" club.
The East Coast Disney fans got their half day park in DAK, but unlike the West Coast fans they were able to ease their pain with three other parks instead of only one park, so Disney has to lower the bar so the East Coast folks feel some hurt so they can really appreciate all the good things Disney is going to do for them when they finally get around to fixing DAK. Disco Yeti was the first step in expectation modification training. (Does anybody believe that the Disney engineers were that incompetent? It was part of the conspiracy!) Delaying Pandora/Avatar is the second part of the plan, and closing/not closing FOTLK is another part.
So Disney is going to look absolutely awesome when they finally add the blue cat people to a park where animals and aliens are the good guys and humans are the bad guys, and we finally get to see "Return of the Yeti."
So now you understand the "Cars Land or Avatar?: Is Lion King closed to be moved?" title to thread.

BTW: I had the All Star breakfast at Rao's favorite restaurant this morning. I think it helped me decypher the Disney marketing strategy.
If Lion King is closed to be moved, they are buidling Avatar. If it is staying put, then they may head in the direction of a replica pre-built Cars Land in WDW. Didn't think it needed clarification, but there it is.

Ow! Ow! Ow! That was a real spelling mistake and not a typo.
I never can keep it straight. If I want to decipher a cypher I have to decrypt it. Y I don't know.
It was the waffle's fault! If I had stopped at just the scrambled eggs and hash browns I might have had a few brain cells left. Of course if I had gotten the biscuits (no mustard) I would be a veritable genius right now!

A few more meals at Awful House and your "Ride On!" days will be over! The Surgeon General has repeatedly warned coaster enthusiasts eveywhere against that grease pit!!!!

I'd invite James, Robb, and Todd too, but they'd get into one of their neener-neener boo-boo arguments or they'd make comments about all that high-quality Waffle house grease we'd be enjoying and ruin the whole experience.

In all seriousness, yes. But you must remember how deprived New Jersey is..it's a Waffle House-less wasteland. But there's one about ten minutes from Dorney Park...
Ha ha. Funny how people get mad that I don't describe what Cars Land and Avatar have to do with WDW, yet it gets turned into a Waffle House - Six Flags discussion. I like Six Flags. Looks like I should visit a Waffle House some time.

I'm in for the Awful Fest, Tim... and the Six Flags excursion. It is a well known fact that crappy food and crappy parks can be fun when you are surrounded by friends.
However, rather than waste money on subpar food at a national chain, I will try to find a regional version of Awful House for us to enjoy...someplace that the locals frequent that has grease even older than me!
Mmmmm...Grease..YOU'RE the one that I want.

Now that we've descended into total inanity, we've got to put an "Awful Fest" together sometime. It's been a few years since I've been to Dorney, and hitting it again might be fun. May have to wait for the food to settle down a bit before I ride Hydra though. That flip when you exit the station would be brutal on a full stomach.
My work travel schedule is still in the formative stages for this summer, Mike, but I'll be sure to holler at ya if something develops. James, I know you're living in flyover country, but ya never know.

Grease is good. My mantra....Every now & then I'll cook up a one of those old time greasy food combinations that my ancestors grew up on.. Everyone in the family loves them, partly since I think there is something in us from our primitive days that craves grease. Sometimes try frying up a combo of bacon(a lot of), potatoes, garlic, onions, green peppers & hot peppers fried in bacon grease. Serve with a few slices of a hard rye bread. Old time peasant food but sure fills the belly and tastes great.

Tim, I can hit Dorney anytime..it's a 95 minute ride. If I have enough notice on the date, I might even be able to do a weekday. Yeah, give a shout if you end up considering that.
And I like that Jo-Jo roll on Hydra (grease-lined stomach or not), even if it's not my favorite coaster in the park.

Never been to Dorney....but maybe if I drive out to Annandale, VA, for my annual summer visit instead of fly, perhaps I can make a stopover as well....
Although, I would rather meet at Hersheypark, or Knoebels, or Kennywood, to be honest....
Question becomes, can I afford the trip? Why doesn't money grow on trees? Or at least, why doesn't it grow on trees for anyone besides the US Government?
For that matter, why doesn't bacon grow on trees?
A meet-up at Knoebels or Hershey is good by me, as they're both less than 4 hours drive. I'd always like to hit Kennywood (maybe this time I won't forget about Noah's Ark) but it's not a day trip.
Be cool to meet..never met anyone from TPI personally.
And what we need, Mr. Rao, is a tree that grows money AND bacon.
And on that note, let's close this part of the discussion, and contact one another through profiles when the time comes to start thinking about a possible get-together.
