Jurassic Park Family CoasterUniversal Orlando: Rumors are running that a family coaster is coming to Jurassic Park
From Mark Fairleigh
Just read on another website that potentially another Jurassic Park ride is in the works. Amber Mine Rollercoaster pretty much speaks for itself as far as themeing. The article claims Gravity Group is the contractor in talks. A little research revealed GG specializes in wooden coasters so perhaps a Big-Thunder-Mountain-style ride?Posted January 21, 2013 at 9:35 AM

This could be a great ride for the kids, except mine are accustomed to more extreme coasters. It is great that Jurassic Park may be getting some attention, however.Posted January 21, 2013 at 5:23 PM Word is the dinos in the River Adventure are getting an upgrade as well. We will see. I think we are going in mid July this year. Hopefully Transformers will be in full swing (with Express).

Yes, we're also going to try to spend a couple of weeks at Universal, but in the fall. We were originally going to Disney World in the spring, but with all this next gen magic + stuff debuting in stages, we decided to skip Disney for a while until all the bugs are out of that new system. My girlfriend tilted the scales. She just loves Portofino & Universal Parks/Citiwalk. We're both psyched for Transformers & the Simpson's additions, plus we just missed Despicable Me by a couple of weeks last year. Transformers looks ahead of their schedule, so they'll probably be soft opening long before July. And Portofino did a renovation, so it should be in top shape. Can't wait!!! I discussed the Jurassic Park possibilities last week on a different discussion thread so I won't repeat verbatim except to summarize that the bandied about concepts sound pretty good. I'm glad too that Universal is not forgetting to include family-friendly rides in its plans. Not sure where my brain was yesterday, but Big Thunder is a steel coaster...duh! Would love a good low-key wooden in a Universal park. :)Posted January 22, 2013 at 7:06 AM

I heard other rumors about a Jurassic Park expansion/refreshment in time for the new movie's release. Some ideas I've heard are making the Discovery Center a dark ride (similar to the moving theater shown in the first movie), and various upgrades to the River Adventure.Posted January 22, 2013 at 11:13 AM

No..it's Mr. Danelli from the (Young) Rascals. The only other famous Dino I can think of is former WWF star Dino Bravo..but alas, he's deceased.Posted January 22, 2013 at 12:49 PM

Mike: Dino (Dean) Martin, one of the infamous "Rat Pack" and an excellent entertainer. He can jump out of the shadows of the possible dark ride and break into a rendition of Volare...I'm showing my age here. Posted January 22, 2013 at 1:57 PM

I thought of him first, but I wanted people who were PROFESSIONALLY known as Dino...an animatronic "Dean" just wouldn't work. Now if it was teamed with an animatronic "Jerry"...well, that's money, baby!Posted January 22, 2013 at 4:48 PM

Mike; Jerry Lewis & Martin. That would be so funny. Lewis & Martin Meet the Creature of Jurassic Park. Sounds like a Universal title.Posted January 22, 2013 at 5:42 PM

Lawyers being munched on. That would make a great scene (with apologies to any readers that are lawyers). But would the Bar Association file suit over that?...Seriously though, Jurassic Park has lots of possibilities for family oriented attractions. And, is it by coincidence, that Universal's new ad program is directed to families, with these concepts and Simpsons land alterations? Posted January 22, 2013 at 8:38 PM

The Insider, Spirit, on WDW Magic reported the following today (2/6/13), "have it on very solid info that the JP-E ticket at IOA will be a hypercoaster attraction and the other will be a walk through interactive experiece (more C ticket) that stretches down to the water from the old Trike Encounter locale"...Any thoughts?Posted February 6, 2013 at 9:17 PM

That would be awesome! The land needs a new ride badly and that will work perfectly!Posted February 7, 2013 at 8:02 PM

Unless they do something like Hollywood Dream in Japan this will ruin JP's themeing.Posted February 7, 2013 at 8:54 PM
