Wrestlemania in Orlando and Theme Parks

Walt Disney World: How bad were theme park crowds the last time Wrestlemania was in Orlando ?

There was an article today in the Orlando Business Journal that WWE's Wrestlemania may return to Orlando in either 2015 or 2016.

As a huge fan, I will likely consider planning a family trip to WDW around the event (assuming it comes to pass).

Were any of you at Wrestlemania in Orlando when it was there a few years ago ? If so, how busy did things seem at WDW and other theme park compared to normal for the early-spring ?

(If any of you have links to attendance charts, I believe the previous WM event in Orlando was around March 30 in 2008, as WM typically takes place the last weekend in March or the first weekend in April).

I was at the one in 2008 in Orlando, to be honest it has very little effect on the parks, most of the Wreslemania events are in the city itself and the Citrus Bowl. Crowds only showed a slight increase in the parks themselves the weekend of the event. Also this kinda ties in with rumours of a permanent Hall of Fame for the WWE coming to Universal.....now that could be interesting

When Wrestlemania last appeared at the Allstate Arena in Chicago a few years back, it was sold out but had little influence on how the rest of Chicago handled tourism (mostly due to how the capacity for such an event is only 15,000).

We were in Orlando for the last WrestleMania there. However, the only parks we went to were Sea World, Busch Gardens, and Aquatica, because we had just been to Orlando the previous fall, and didn't want to pony up for more Disney tickets (we have Busch/Sea World Platinum Passes). The parks were no more crowded than normal early spring, but it could be highly variable beause of spring break. Since Easter floats around, you should check to see where it falls, and if it's within 2 weeks of the event, you might want to avoid the Disney and Universal Parks, even on weekdays, because of the intense spring break crowds. I've not experienced them myself, but I've heard that spring break weeks can be as intense as Memorial Day and July 4th.

Completely off topic, but I have been to 3 of the same WrestleManias as Mike (I missed the NYC one, but I got free tickets to the Hartford one, which was awful.) Good times, good times...

I thought the Hartford one was a good one. I wore a Jeff Jarrett hat and glasses (what can I say, he was my favorite at the time.)
