Is a Doctor Who themed ride/show possible?
Universal Orlando: With the new London area coming in 2014, it seems more likely than it was before for a Doctor Who themed ride/show to be included later on down the road, even though there's already a Doctor Who experience in London.
I'd be interested to see if they'd try to include DW at USO.
If they ever included it, it probably wouldn't go in the London area of USF. I'm thinking it'll be solely dedicated to Potter.

I've got some ideas on how it could happen. I'll hopefully be able to explore them in the Apprentice rounds, but I think what you're looking at is some sort of experience where the guest falls into a situation where they need to be "reduced" by the doctor, and the ride itself becoming that escape route....
Harry Potter has its space with Warner Bros in the London basin... So I don't see it being a part of a Universal facility in London.
What if Universal trashed Fear Factor and added an extension to the London area! They are right next to each other, but they could be separate themes. DW sounds like a perfect theme for a ride!
I was thinking the same thing. Replace Fear Factor. Although, I'm not to sure how popular Doctor Who truly is in America, Tintin, might even have more of a foothold.

Its Turkey, but cooked with a sonic Screwdriver. It also has the advantage of being cooked and ready to eat before you're hungry.

Due to how long it's been around, dr who has a large fan base in Georgia. And I would say it's growing rapidly.
For an attraction, I think it would be cool to have a different ride in each Universal OR Disney park that makes use of a different Doctor and Companion. Imagine a ride with 4 and Sarah Jane getting lost in a water god's temple at IOA and being able to see 10 and Rose finding real monsters in Hollywood or something at USF. And another pair at each universal park.
Quoting TPIer David Brown (one of my favorite posts ever): "There is a world of difference between the 'ordinary' public and the theme park fan fraternity."
That's what I think of when I think of a Dr. Who attraction.
I don't know if it'd work but if it did it should be in IOA at toon lagoon as much as i love that section it needs a new theme and different rides.

The problem is that not much Americans know about Doctor Who. THe land idea is silly, and Universal should just make a Harry Potte park, Im tired of not seeing this happen.

Eventually though, Pottermania will pass. A potter land in a greater park can reskinned better than a whole park can be rethemed, rebranded, and remarketed.
Thinking Doctor Who for Fear Factor makes sense as it helps transition to MIB as well.
Saying that Doctor Who isn't popular in America, well neither was Fear Factor...
Ultimately if its a good/great attraction people will enjoy it. But the rabid fan base might make pilgrimages to visit from the UK and they traditionally spend a fair amount
With the new spinner in Springfield, maybe a nice ferris wheel on a barge in the portion of the lagoon in front of MIB, as it would add another smaller attraction to what will be in a year a much busier park, along with that how about Wicked for T2
I hate to defend something like Fear Factor, but it was a Top-20 rated show in several of the years it aired on on NBC. Dr. Who is nothing but a cult curiosity on these shores..
Thats right mike also i found out that england already has a interactive Dr Who attraction so theres no need for it over here.
As someone that lives in the UK, I don't think its as popular here as people like to believe. Sure, it has a long history in UK entertainment and it DOES have a big following - but compare it to other franchises and it does not compete.
TPI members have a tendency to favour franchises that have niche fan bases or simply aren't as popular as they think, which unfortunately aren't representative of the 'general public'. For the record, this is the reason why Family Guy (how many times have we heard this one?!) will never make an attraction at any theme park (yes, never!) and no, a Back to the Future attraction will NOT make a return to US theme park soil (much to my disappointment).

DWTRS - Dr. Who Themed Ride/Show
Doctor Who already is featured in the shops of the United Kingdom pavilion in World Showcase at EPCOT. Sure it might be just T-shirts, but there is the possibility for Disney to be in talks with the BBC for the good Doctor to be featured in EPCOT. I mean, the whole park is almost themed like Doctor Who stories. One minute you're in the future, the next you're in the past in another country. In my opinion, Universal should be focusing on that rumoured Hobbit/LOTR expansion and the Doctor should go to Disney.
I think the LOTR thing is just a scam and Six Flags is getting the theme park rights.
Dr.Who = BBC
Try to deal with BBC.
BBC is a self contained EMPIRE, people !

(I've got a design for a 'Tardis' based miniature art museum. But that was not for a theme park project. => 3 times bigger inside, then outside... I managed to do it.. ;-) Design phase. No budgets for the project right now.)
I think Universal are a big enough franchise to deal with the bbc
they also sell doctor who related gear at universal in one of the shops. so selling it at Epcot probably means nothing. though i would love a tardis ride at universal, and i would rather it be universal then Disney.
One thing it has going for it is its popularity has increased immensely in the past year, where most people i know have at least heard of it.
Melissa, the Terminator gift shop has all sorts of stuff ranging from DC to Alien. Just because it's in the T23D shop isn' ta sign. However, Epcot does have exclusive Dr Who merchandise. Persnally I'd love to see a Dr Who ride come to Epcot, it's what WS needs.
Dominick, with the Star Wars land, Cars land, AND Avatar land being in production, I'd expect Dr. Who to come to USF before WDW, let alone Epcot since Disney'd get a huge attendance spike from even one of those lands. Sure, Dr. Who stuff are being sold at Epcot and in the T2-3D shop, but both WDW and USF hold rights to the Terminator series. I could see this at least getting greenlit at either park, but I'd love to see this sitting next to Harry Potter.
