Journey into Imagination

Walt Disney World: What is happening with Journey into Imagination?

I read some months ago about a rumour that epcot's Journey into Imagination will be closing early in January for an extensive refurb or even a complete change. As it is now late December, and there is no announcement about its closure (that I am aware of?) Can we assume that this rumour was not correct and there is no closure/refurb planned?

I've been wondering the same thing myself. I haven't heard anything since that rumor.

I thought it was confirmed at D23. That there would be a redo, but Figment would stay.

Personally, I think using the Mystic Manor Technology with an Imagination theme would work wonders for this attraction. Heck, we already got the cute character!

Honestly, I'm surprised they just don't start from scratch or something. Apparently, from videos I've seen, there's a ton of unused real estate in that footprint. It's cool that Figment gets to stay, but..

If there was any way to bring back the original, that would be great. I wish they would do more with that pavilion because there is lot of unused space. The area upstairs that used to be open is still there and much of the stuff is still there... you can kind of see it as you exit the ride. There is so much they can do, if they would "Use their imagination"

So last I heard, Journey was supposed to go into refurb, however I don't think that happened can anyone confirm this? Plus coibsidering the crowds, I think any plans Disney had to close for refurb could have been postponed or canceled due to the new years crowds.
