Hurler (at Kings Dominion)

Hurler has a great potential to be an awesome roller coaster. It has the drop, the turns, and the speed! The only problem is that its like riding on a track lined with marbles and rocks!!!!! Hurler is a KILLER on the neck and back! I found that the large turn on the far side of the ride is where most of the pain and frustration happens because of the speed and the condition of the track. The lines are always really short and you can usually walk right through but you only get one spine in your lifetime!!! I gave it a 7/8 only because the ride has an awesome layout and design!!!

Scooby Doo's Haunted Mansion (at Carowinds)

An OK dark ride that was running during Winterfest on Dec. 10. We had fun, but PKD's version is a bit better (nicer queue, and it's easier to aim the guns at the ghosts). This one gets a "5" (average), while I'd give PKD's a "6."

Top Gun: The Jet Coaster (at Carowinds)

I was at Winterfest with some friends on Dec. 10, and much to our surprise, Carowinds was running one train on Top Gun. Excellent inverted, very smooth, with plenty of surprises. The front row rules, but at Winterfest it's like playing an intense game of "freeze out" (didn't stop us, though).
