Hard Rock Hotel
at Universal Orlando
The Hard Rock Hotel has everything. Great staff, great rooms, great location. The Palm Restaurant is way too expensive, but that isn't a problem as there are other dining options. -- Lyndon Wigmore, Newport, United Kingdom
Kyriad Hotel

We just turned up early one morning without pre-booking. We had to wait about an hour, but then they gave us a room. The room was clean and tidy, and represented good value for money. -- Lyndon Wigmore, Newport, United Kingdom
Anaheim Desert Inn & Suites
at Disneyland
It's a great place when you're not spending a lot of time in the room, which you shouldn't because you're at Disneyland. There are two different types of suites--one where the front room has a pull-out bed and TV and one where two full rooms are connected. They're the same price (unless someone at the desk just made a mistake), but the difference is 4 Queen beds vs. 2 Queen beds and a full (in the couch).
Call me crazy, but the thing that impresses me the most is the clear water. Anaheim is notorious for its "milk water," which the surrouding motels seem to have. And since this place is inexpensive, I was expecting the same from its tap. -- Amanda K, Sacramento, California
Disney's Hotel Cheyenne

Well themed and a good location this hotel was really good in everything it did. The room was cleaned daily and the facilities were as good as you could wish for in a hotel of its type. Would definately stay here again. -- Paul Reeves, Wolverhampton, United Kingdom
Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort
at Walt Disney World
My husband and I stayed at the Caribbean Beach Resort last year, we loved it! It had all the comforts of home, beautifully landscaped property, I felt like I was in the Caribbean! We had animals made out of our towels, everyone there was very helpful.
There was a quiet pool close to the building we stayed in, and the Gift Shop/ Convenience Store / Food Court were just a short walk away.
I would definitely recommend staying there for couples of families. -- Carol Drollett, Bar Harbor, Maine
Doubletree Guest Suites Resort
at Walt Disney World
We had problems with the safe, the refrigerator and the A/C for the first two days. All were fixed in a reasonable amount of time. The room had a musty smell, probably a side effect form all the hurricanes the prvious fall. The rooms were spacious but no nice views from any of the windows that I could see. The pool was nice but since the hotle is right behind the highway there was lots of traffic noise. The restaurant was mediocre as was the bar. The pool bar was great as were the bartenders. The staff in general were great. A nice walk to downtown disney! -- Val Dickerson, Montclair, New Jersey
Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort
at Walt Disney World
Loved the pool! The rooms were kind of small but then again I only slept in the room. The grounds were beautiful, I thought I was actually on a caribbean island. It was a pain to get to the theme parks on the busses but that was a minor thing. -- Val Dickerson, Montclair, New Jersey

Great pool and pool bar. I have stayed there several times, while not the best hotel ever my stay there was always pleasurable. Great because it is within walking distance to downtown disney. -- Val Dickerson, Montclair, New Jersey
Disney's Old Key West Resort
at Walt Disney World
OKW is a very special resort at WDW. The units are spacious and have all the amenities. It's wonderful to get up in the morning and enjoy coffee and breakfast on the back porch as we feed the birds and watch the golfers go by. OKW makes us feel welcome and at home from the time we drive thru the front gate. For a quiet, relaxed environment, there is no better place to stay at WDW. -- Ed Noonan, Bay Village, Ohio
Park Vue Inn
at Disneyland
When we stayed there last year it was okay. It was not as clean as I had hoped but was close and convenient. The beds were not very comfortable but we were exhausted and fell right asleep. If you are looking for value and not much else, this is for you. -- G D, Seattle, Washington

Disney's Polynesian Resort
at Walt Disney World
The Polynesian Resort is a beautiful, tropical paradise layed out perfectly on Walt Disney World's property just south of the Magic Kingdom. It is connected to the monorail along with the Contemporary and the Grand Floridian resorts.
The ambience is simply the best as tiki torches, lush tropical vegetation and south seas music all combined to surround you and make you feel a world away from civilization. The views of the lagoon are beautiful to say the least and the overall tranquil beauty are definitely hightened by the fact that the hotel is spreadout and connected by intimate walkways.
If you want extremely fancy rooms, then this hotel isn't exactly what you are looking for. Simple, yet tasteful-that's how I'd describe the rooms here. If you want a laidback approach to your vacation I would highly recommend the Polynesian Resort!
I have visited Walt Disney World 6 times in the past and I stayed here every single time. I can't say enough good things about the resort. The food is pretty good and the atmosphere just can't be beat really.
I don't consider it a negative, but I know some people might think the layout and overall large area it covers is a little too much. Personally, I like walking and don't mind it. But, understandably some people might find this difficult or just annoying.

Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort

The grounds were kept neat and clean...that's where the good things end. The complex is way to big, there are approximately six bus stops in the complex,we were the first stop,so that meant being on the bus approximately 15 minutes before leaving the complex to start to your park destination, and if you were the last stop you would be lucky to get on the bus let alone a seat. Then there was the hotel park pass key fiasco,at least once a day one of my family would not be able to enter the park because of a problem with the pass,so that meant spending the next 15 minutes at the guest relations booth getting that straightened out.Last but not least we were on the disney dining plan, which is well worth it,but in the process of all the troubles with my room keys, someone erased my remaining dinners,so on my last night there ,after dinner we were told that we exceeded our meal plan the hostess at the restaurant called the hotel to see if she could straighten it out,but was also told there were no more dinners left on our plan.I paid the bill in cash, went back to the hotel and asked to speak to the manager, and suddenly when i started raise my voice a little the meals magically appeared before my eyes.....to little to late....universal here we come -- Thomas Kane,jr, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Disneyland Hotel
at Disneyland Paris
If you want to stay at Disneyland I would urge anyone to try their best to save a few extra pennies (ok pounds) and book a room here it is well worth the extra money. The rooms are all decorated subtly with Disney themes. The characters are everywhere and every morning before breakfast they converge in the dining areas for photos and autograph sessions. There are shops within the hotel that stock fantastic souveniors. The breakfast provided in the package is delicious and has a wide range of choice. I went in November for the Christmas festivities and the decorations were breathtaking. The only bad thing I would say about the hotel is that in keeping with the traditional victorian theme of the hotel the staff are dressed accordingly and this makes the staff of certain cultural backgrounds look like the old time slaves which I would find offensive if I were of the same cultural background and did even though I'm white. I'm sure they are happy with their job etc but I just think maybe they could have a better uniform that doesn't degrade them so much. -- Penny Willisson, Essex, United Kingdom

Got upgraded to this hotel in November 2001. Got a great room with a view over the lake which meant we stayed nice and warm whilst having a perfect view of the firework show. -- Penny Willisson, Essex, United Kingdom

I had a most pleasing stay here. The rooms were comfortable, the pools were lovely, the staff was helpfull and the buildings looked nice. Also Mimi's cafe, wich is accross the street, is great. -- Daniel Glen, Sydney, Australia
Disney's Hotel Santa Fe

We have stayed there many times - rooms are okay with nice beds and a clean bathroom. If you want to avoid the breakfast queue - which really can be a pain - opt for the breakfast in the park and take the first setting. You will be able to squeeze in a ride or two before the park officially opens. -- susi neumann, Oberneukirchen, Austria
Kyriad Hotel

After reading the comments I have to add that we usually book via "bookings.com" or "beyondparis.com" - no pre-pay. We have always been very welcome, only once there was a problem with towels which were only placed in the room at 6 in the evening. The rooms itself are a bit on the small side, but the bathroom was clean and the breakfast very good. The staff was very friendly, but there were NO problems to solve. -- susi neumann, Oberneukirchen, Austria
Portofino Bay Hotel

We stayed at the PBH twice. First time in 2003 which was very impressive and the second time in 2004. In 2004 it took us 5 hours to finally get the right room (first one had only one bed, back to queue for an hour, second had two beds and a "view" (- had paid for bayview in March and vacationed in August!!) which you could only "see" standing on a chair and out through cast iron fencing!! When we complained about when we had booked and paid - they said they were overbooked and we should have come at another time. Only after I got rather loud the manager appeared and offered to move us to another room the next day. All this had taken 5 hours!! The next day we had a room with a nice view only to find out that the lamp did not work and when it rained - and it rains often the room was flooded. We had a load of towel to block the water at the balcony doors. We had booked this hotel because of the "express pass" available to on site guests - but were disappointed to find out that you can only use them once on every ride before 4 o'clock!! (We had been told beforehand that they were good - every day, all day!!) Well, as far as Universal goes, I think I'll stick to disney hospitality and just go to the park for a day's visit. -- susi neumann, Oberneukirchen, Austria
