Accidents Involving Injury at Canada's Wonderland

Official U.S. federal and state data on theme park accidents is almost nonexistent. That's why Theme Park Insider users are creating this visitor-maintained database of theme park accidents--to give public at least some information about attraction safety records.

8/23/2003 - Jimmy Neutron's Brainwasher - Submitted by Name Withheld on 8/25/2003

The round car carrying one adult and three children broke off the steel arm and crashed to the ground from a height of around five feet. The three children were taken to hospital, one of those being air-lifted, with undisclosed injuries. However, blood was plainly visible on the face of one child and the arms/torso of another. The adult is complaining of back injuries. [Later reports indicated that none of the injuries was serious.--Editor]

    I AM THE FATHER AND HUSBAND OF THE PEOPLE INVOLVED IN THIS ACCIDENT. FIRST OF ALL IT WAS TWO CHILDREN AND ONE ADAULT. MY WIFE HAS A FRACTUR IN HER BACK AND A LOSS OF FEELING IN HER RIGHT HAND AS SHE HAD MULTIPLE STICHES., MY DOUGHTER WAS AIR LIFTED AND IS STILL DEALING WITH HER INJURIES, I AM THANKFULL THAT NO ONE WAS KILLED ALTHOUGH THE INJURIES ARE MUCH MORE SERIOUS THAN REPORTED -- Submitted by Dankent on 7/29/2006

    A small child trying to get out of her seat at Silver Streak, falls and lands on her face. She fractures her nose. [Verified by supporting document - Ed.]

    • Follow-up:
    Quick follow-up. After incidents such as this one, Wonderland heavily modified the seats to allow for easier access and exit from the seats. These modifications included lowering the height of the horn (portion between the legs of the rider), the additions of handles on the sides of the seat and the back of the seats in front, and raising the platform approximately 2" with a soft rubber mat. -- Submitted by mattwoodall on 8/24/2005

    5/5/2001 - Flavourator - Submitted by Name Withheld on 1/10/2002
    A man rides the Flavourator with his son (I'd guess about age 10) and Daughter (Age 5?) and he spins the bucket SO fast that his son actually fly's out of the bucket and bounces off the fence, and almost rolls under the ride. I pressed the emergency stop as soon as I saw the child being to move, but the "E-stop" only cuts the power, and has no breaking effect on the ride. So I left the booth and tried to stop the ride before he rolled under. He suffered a broken shoulder and a cut requiring about 10 stitches on the side of his head.     Sometime during the 2001 season. A child looked behind as the bars were coming up and the bar hit him above his eye, cutting him, and causing his eye to swell shut. [Verified by supporting document - Ed.]
