About Darien Lake

Darien Lake is located 20 miles from Buffalo, in Darien Center, NY. currently operated by PARC Management. It was formerly a Six Flags park. The resort features a 1200 site campground, a theme park, and the Lodge on the Lake Hotel.

The first roller-coaster was the Viper. The park currently has 1 mini coaster, Mind Eraser, and the follorwing 6 coasters: Ride of Steel(Formerly Superman), Predator, Boomerang, Mind Eraser, Viper, and Orange Country Choppers MotoCoaster (The first of its kind). Currently there is also Batman: The Escape Coaster in storage from Six Flags Astro World.

The park also consists of 34 other rides including 3 water rides, various upcharge attractions (including mini golf, a boat dock, a skydiving attraction, a Slingshot, and a raceway), The Darien Lake Performing Arts Center used for concerts and events, and a small water park consisting of Hooks Lagoon, the water park, and Crocodile Isle, a wave pool. The Giant Wheel is the second largest ferris wheel in North America.

The Current nightime show featured at the Lakeside Ampitheater is LaserBlast! which combines a laser show and music. Other shows currently include Bob the Builder Live in the kids zone Adventure Land, Suvivor Live, Rocknation, and Country Unleashed.

Every October, Six Flag's FrightFest was held at Darien Lake. In 2006, the frightFest ceased due to the new management. In 2008, PARC Management brought back a similar style FrightFest and is currently running every october. The park usually closes in October marking the end of the park's season. -- Last edited by Tim W
