50's Prime Time Café

Table service

About 50's Prime Time Café

While there are television sets all over the dining rooms, they don't create the noise. That aspect is left to the serving staff, who play your relatives. Your server will introduce himself or herself as Cousin This or Aunt That and they all refer to Mom back in the kitchen. And they refer loudly. They also yell at each other and sometimes at the customers. One Aunt demanded I set the table as she sat down to chat with my tablemates. If this is something you don't find humorous, then I suggest you try the Brown Derby instead. Because this is the type of goofiness that the Prime Time is all about. Expect to be reprimanded if your elbows are on the table. Or if you don't finish your vegetables. "Relatives" aren't beyond punishment, which can take the form of running around the dining room like a superhero. They'll also set adults up with Little Mermaid bibs for those eating seafood. Even if it is a seafood pasta! -- Read Kevin Baxter's complete review

We were there on a very busy day and seemed like our server didn't care about being in character beccause there were only two of us. I noticed alot of the other servers at their tables and wish we had gotten the same treatment. I had the fried chicken which was actually really good, my boyfriend had the meatloaf which we could have done without. The fried chicken meal is so large it's definitely enough for two, although I don't recomend eating this on a very hot day like we did. Once I left with belly full of fried chicken I didn't want to go back out in the heat let alone move. - Erica Jayne

I’ve been several times and it’s been a joy each and every visit. Uncle Jerry Lewis was the best server ever. He looked and sounded just like Jerry during the Nutty Professor era. You have to go with a sprit of adventure. Yes, Whispering Canyon is a LOT of fun too, but this place is a blast. - Rob McCullough

This was my family's favorite! Our server, Uncle Lance, did a great job of keeping in character. I have read many complaints on this site about the food - but we thought the pot roast tasted just like Grandma's (which was the best!)and the desserts were delicious. I would definitely recommend the Prime Time Cafe. - Diedra Nulph

Went here for lunch on a pretty busy day in April, thought it was quite fun. Was told to take my cap off etc etc.. Food was alright, the shakes were very impressive but the service is what really let this place down. We were given our mains before we had even finished our starters !!!! When i complained our waitresses response was "It looked like you were nearly done" We had half the starter still there.. needless to say there was no tip ! Sort the service out and it would be a pretty good place - Steve Ward

"You'll have to set the table yourselves because my Aunt Susan is very lazy", that's what the host told us anyway. Well Aunt Susan took very good care of us and we enjoyed the restaurant and the great job of the servers. The food on the other hand wasn't the best, we'd had better at several other places and being on the Dining Plan, we had lots of it! Overall I'd give the 50's Prime Time Cafe an 8 out of 10. - John Chaffin

Favorite restaurant at disney. great themeing, food, and atmophere. - Dan Rosenberg

A restaurant, themed to an American family's home in the '50's, featuring your cousin as the server, and mom in the kitchen. The servers are the show here, with gag lines ranging from "Eat your vegetables or I'll get mom", to "Get your elbows off the table". They may even get you to set the table for your group. Typical American fare, such as fried chicken and mashed potatoes. I wasn't expecting much from the food, but even the entertainment didn't blow me away. I was much more impressed with The Whispering Canyon Cafe at the Wilderness Lodge for entertainment. Maybe our server was just not into it that day, but we received very few gags. I purposely put my elbows on the table and avoided my veggies just to get some kind of response, but nothing. This restaurant receives a Fair rating, and that's only because my milkshake was amazing. - Joshua Counsil

I really enjoyed the atmosphere, but your right the food isn't that great. - Ben James

One goes here to be entertained, and if thats what you go here for, thumbs up...if you expect great food, thats a different story...thumbs middle...lol. - Wilfredo Alvelo

One of my least favorite WDW restaurants. The food is "meh" at best. I know the service is a show. I am not into that particular type of entertainment, so that really turned me off. The theming is very good. - Mark Hollamon
