Space Mountain

Roller coaster
Minimum height to ride: 40 inches

About Space Mountain

Blast off of Earth with a newer, better version of the classic Disneyland attraction, Space Mountain.

Originally opened in 1977, the Anaheim coaster is the second incarnation of Space Mountain, with Walt Disney World receiving the original ride. These two rides are not carbon copies, but two different coasters with similar themes.

They totally revamped this ride with new tracks and it is much improved and a much smoother ride. Some guests have said their face was very cold after riding Space Mountain.

Disabled Guests: Go through the exit and shortly you will turn left and go down a long long hallway. At the end turn right and pull up to the yellow line on your left. The CM will tell you were to park.

The best thing is that Disney has put in a special disabled loading bay. Disabled guests can load at their pace. The ride vehicle is on a platform that will eventually be slid into place and take off like other ride vehicles. It works the same way as the siding for bobsleds. There may be a bit of a wait as they fill up the vehicles. -- Last edited by Laurie smith

Space Mountain is just flat out awesome. The ride itself is fast, dark, and has some nice effects at the start of the ride. The music really enhances the experience. Disneyland's version is so much better than the older WDW version. The best of the mountains in Disneyland and second to only Indiana Jones as the best ride in the Disneyland Resort. Space Mountain is a classic that recently received a facelift and will always be one of the most popular and famous attractions in Disney history. This is an absolute must ride to anybody that isn't afraid of the dark. Long lines are always present on this ride. Either get on this first thing in the morning or get a fastpass. I have gotten on this ride many times over the past couple of years and have always used a fastpass. Lines easily go over 40 minutes and at times reach 90 or more. There is even a line to get fastpasses for this ride. Whatever you do, don't miss this great ride. - Manny Barron

Definitely a fun ride for older kids and adults. I don't recommend it for the younger ones who are afraid of the dark or who don't like being jerked around. Overall an amazing ride for those who love a small thrill. - Alexz Krysstensin

I can honestly say I am not a fan of this ride. There's no legitimate story, the theming is a little "standard" for Disney, and the ride isn't as thrilling as it's said to be. There's certainly nothing wrong with it, but it isn't the crown jewel of this park. - Jacob Sundstrom

Dissapointed in the new star effects definately not realistic stars but everything else is really quite nice about the ride. - Nicholas Kalscheuer

This ride is amazing!I loved the star effects, and the updated version feels much smoother, and has a higher capacity. this ride is not very intense, and is perfect for everyone - Patrick Gorham

This is such a cool ride! The fact that it is in the dark makes it so much better. I love all the stars inside and all the cool lights at the begining. The part of the ride before you get on (i'm sure there's a different word for that, but oh well) is pretty awesome too. And if the line is long, get a fastpass, because those really cut off a lot of wait time on this ride. - Chloe !

A Great Ride. Pretty fast. fun. buh too many curves, not enough drops. no loops! =( Fun ride at first buh after a while, it gets boring. I give it a 7.5/10. - Lucas Lee

An AWESOME experience. So cool at the beggining when you blast off. So fast. - Sam C

This ride has to be one of the best completely enclosed roller coasters in existance. Definitely worth the normal hour-plus wait and a must ride attraction. - AJ Hummel

The line queue is much worse than the Magic Kingdom counterpart, but the ride itself is far superior, especially with the music and optical effects projected onto the ceiling. - Wilfredo Alvelo

This is another classic Disney Attraction! I love this ride with all my heart. The new music and smoother track make you really feel as though you are flying through space, along with the improved stars and asteroid (which means no more giant Flying chocolate-chip cookie! Darn it!) Disney really outdid themselves with this ride. To the Imagineer who came up with this attraction, thank you!!! - Sarah E
