Dollywood ExpressRailroadAbout Dollywood ExpressTake in the delightfull aroma of coal smoke and the sounds of an authentic Baldwin steamer as you take a 5 mile round trip ride from "The Village" in Dollywood through the Beutifull Smokies and back behind 2-8-2 #70 "Cinder-Ella" or 2-8-2 #192 "Klondike Katie". -- Last edited by Michael Newsom [Update this description | Read previous versions] Photos from Dollywood ExpressSafety
Readers' Opinions
The Dollywood Express is the best train ride at any Amusement/Theme Park! I actually talked to a man (probably in his late 70's early 80's) a few years ago that visits the park every single day rides the train, eats a moon pie from one of the shops then goes home. He told me that he has done it for years and is a train enthusiast. How great is it that a park has an attraction that sparks so much loyalty that a man who slowly walks the paths will visit everyday just for one attraction. Great job Dollywood! - Steven Lee This is more than just a great theme park train ride. The Dollywood Express train has a long and interesting history (explained by the announcer during the ride). It's a great experience to ride behind a real steam engine through the beautiful Smokey Mountains. During a 5-day visit this year, my 13-year-old son wanted to ride this train 8 times. - Richard Gelina I feel this is one of the best amusment park train rides anywhere! - Bill Lohr It's a serviceable train ride but the scenery isn't that impressive and the smoke from the coal burning steam engines is oppressive. - Mike Duchock The Dollywood Express is a true symbol of the park. The train, offering a very unique experience for guests, seems to bring guests right back to an age past. The only down side, is that the seats on the passenger cars are a little uncomfortable. - Michael Newsom
