Theme Park Insider readers offer their ratings and reviews for Captain EO, a 4d movie in Future World - Imagination at Epcot.
Written by Robert Niles Readers' rating:
While I am a Michael Jackson fan, I would only recommend seeing this show just once. The story and special effects are not that great, but the music, 4D gimmicks and Michael Jackson make the show worthwhile. 7/10 - Christopher Sturniolo Hard to belive this is by George Lucas. Just kidding! This is as bad as watching an Ewok movie! 4/10 - Eric Cartman Good thing to tribute MJ, but it is really outdated and boring. - A. P. A fitting tribute to MJ to bring this ride back.I would imagine that this show was ground breaking at the time of release. Yes, it does look dated now - but with a catchy score and typical George Lucas furry creatures, it's always a winner. Watch out for a scary Anjelica Huston as the Supreme Leader. "We are gonna change the world" - Ben Price Better than Honey I Shrunk The Audience but still not great. Give it a miss if you aren't a Michael Jackson fan! I give it a 4/10. - D H The 80's were a very strange time. This attraction illustrates that perfectly. Two words come to mind when I describe this show; VERY CHEESY!!! I was born towards the end of the 80's so I didn't have much interest. The effects are so out dated and the characters are so stupid it's more of a comedy than anything. SPOILER ALERT!!! The plot of this 3D show is basically that the universe is in danger and Michael Jackson is the "hero" who will save it through music and dance. The only way that I can see a person loving it is if they are a die hard Michael Jackson fan. I rate it a 5/10 only because it is supposed to be quote unquote "classic" and because the show/ride attractions at Epcot are few and far between in my opinion. So it beat walking around the different worlds in the hot sun. (Just barely) Don't waste you time if you have to wait more than 10 minutes! Note: There are a few scary characters so young children may be frightened. - Bob Liebe Very dated and very cheesy, Captain EO really doesn't hold up well these days. But as a tribute to Michael Jackson, which is how Disney are selling the show, it works well. MJ brings a lot of talent and charm to the film, the music is pretty good and if you're ready to go along with the intense 80's-ness of the whole thing there's fun to be had. - David Wilcock A delight for any age group. I hope this attraction sticks. Everytime I go to the park I do it at least 3 times. The music, the 4th dimension, the colors, everything is memorable. - Peter Pettigrew Now that MJ is gone this attraction has more sentimental appeal. - Terry R More attraction and restaurant ratings:
