Maelstrom reviews

Theme Park Insider readers offer their ratings and reviews for Maelstrom, a dark ride in World Showcase - Norway at Epcot.

Maelstrom is a dark boat ride in the same vein as Pirates of the Caribbean. You sail on a Viking ship through fjords and storms, over waterfalls, and float by not-too-scary trolls with multiple heads. There is a travelogue about Norway following the ride which you can opt to skip if you like.

Good dark ride, especially (watch out spoiler) where the trol sends you back. - A. P.

This is a dark ride with a mild drop at the end. I enjoy seeing the Vikings and Trolls on this boat adventure. - Matthew Harackiewicz

A hidden gem. Too short if anything! - Man-Eating Sharks

A decent enough water ride but not suited for thrill-seekers! The animatronics are pretty cool, especially the polar bear. Not worth wasting a Fast Pass on but will always ride this during our visit. - Ben Price

I would like it if it had a decent drop and you get wet but no. It's a depressing ride about a boring country (No Offence! lol). Pathetic movie afterwards too. 2/10 - D H

Short, sweet, and to the point. A nice break from all the walking, shopping, and eating in the World Showcase part of EPCOT. I take my 8 month old daughters on this all the time and they love it. Skip the movie afterwards. - Heather Olson

I like this ride. I like the polar bears. My sister loves the movie after the ride. She wants to ride the ride just to see the movie. She doesn't understand why people want to walk through the theater and avoid the movie. It's sweet how it starts with the little boy looking up to this huge Viking ship and then we learn of it's background. - Laura Milton

I thought the ride would be longer on the same par as Pirates or similar. It was okay but I probably wouldn't do it again. - Terry R

A must do if under 20 min because it's so creepy it's funny and makes me smile yet I dont know why 8/10 - Edward Morgan
