Theme Park Insider readers offer their ratings and reviews for Maelstrom, a boat ride in World Showcase - Norway at Epcot.
Written by Robert Niles
The Norway pavilion was the last to be added to World Showcase, in 1988. On Maelstrom, you sail on a Viking ship through fjords and storms, over waterfalls, and float by (not-too-scary) trolls in this indoor boat ride. There is a travelogue about Norway following the ride which many riders opt to skip on their way out of building.
Its the only boat ride I know of with a U-turn. You should watch the movie at the end at least once. It is really very well made and informative. A fine bit of edutanement is the Malestrom experience. (and some blessed air conditioning...) - Doug Adams
Hahaha, one of my favorite rides at Epcot. It's cheesy and fun and has drops! - Bryce McGibeny
Maelstrom is another charming ride at Epcot. The short look back at Norway's history is pretty cool. And the falls are a little thrill for anybody. - Justin Knight
