April 2013. We had a great time at Shades of Green. The rooms were spacious, clean, and the resort grounds are beautiful. It is located across the street from the Polynesian (so easy access to the monorail if the hotel's free shuttles don't work for you). Most of the WDW resorts are at least 2-3 times the cost of Shades, so I didn't mind that it didn't feel like "Disney". We were at WDW all day, so we didn't need a themed resort, too. If you plan to spend time at the pool, request a room in the Magnolia Wing as it is closer to the pools. My one complaint is the wait breakfast buffet can be long (15-20 minutes). We were always short on time by the time we got our table to catch our shuttle. They are improving the Exchange and one of the pools right now, so supplies were limited at the Exchange and there is only one pool (plus a kiddie pool). I think both upgrades will be completed this summer. Overall, this is a great resort! Comfortable, clean and relaxing! Hoping to go back next year! - Brandi Poellinger Good for the price, nothing that exciting about the place. Value, value and location is the draw. - Mike Maurer A good value during peak season but less of a value during off season. Parking at the hotel and theme parks is not included but you still get extra magic hours. It seems quieter than All Star but is not as nice as the Contemporary. There is a free kiddie ride (like a $.50 at a grocery store) by the coffee shop that toddlers enjoy. The gelato counter is not too expensive and short wait. The furniture is very old and pinched my daughters fingers pretty bad. They said they would fix it on 4 occasions so we cleared our stuff out of the drawers every morning and they never did come. Maintenance finally removed a drawer and cover our last night there. The pools were out of order or cold. The second floor flooded in a wing. - Emily Brux Doesn't give you the feeling that you are at Disney, just feels like any other hotel. The pillows are terrible too. I won't stay at this hotel again. - Travis Hair |
