The Old Mill

Boat ride

About The Old Mill

This Historic Society landmark ride features narrow five-passenger boats drifting in dark tunnels, passing both outdoor and indoor dioramas. The last themeing was a mixture of horror [graveyards, ruins] and cowboys [jails, cantinas]. It was rethemed into Garfield's Nightmare in 2004. -- Last edited by Elizabeth Gray

One of the oldest running rides of it's type in the world it was orginally built in 1901 and upgraded in 1929. The boats move along slowly down dark claustiphobic tunnels to openings with tableaux. Historically it has been scenes of excotic locations or dancing skeletons. In 2004 it was re-theme as Garfield's Nightmare, a theme not worthy of this classic's ride heritage. Be careful when boarding the boats. We acidentally put the heavier people on the same side and the whole boat leaned so far over it actually came out of the water. Ride it for the history but pray they go back to some more appropiate themeing. - Elizabeth Gray
