Great Coasters International reprofiled and retracked Knott's iconic wooden coaster for a June 2016 reopening, eliminating the mid-course brake run and installing Millennium Flyer trains.
After the recent refurbishment, GhostRider is back to running just as good as it did when it first opened. The ride is long, fast, smooth, contains plenty of airtime, and has quite a few lateral forces in the second half of the course. While it isn't the most extreme roller coaster ever built, it is still a serious thrill ride and is a lot of fun for everyone. As of this writing, I've been on 69 wood coasters, and GhostRider ranks 6th out of those. Previously, I would have filed this under time permitting, but now I'd consider it an absolute must-ride on any trip to Knott's Berry Farm.
This ride is amazing since the refurb, the old one was getting up there with Mean Streak in terms of roughness, but since the refurb its amazing. Awesome airtime in the back and that out of control feeling at the end after the former MCBR. Hope it always stays this way and can't figure out why this isn't in the must do category, its a great ride! Be sure to ride it as its my number 1 or 2 in the park!
