River Quest

Flume ride
Minimum height to ride: 55 inches

About River Quest

Wow. That's what I thought when I heard what Phantasialand had planned for this ride. It's not a bad ride, just, has a lot of missed potential. The basic idea is that you and eight other people journey through three of the park's most diverse lands: China Town, Silver City, and the eerie finale in the Mystery Castle. Unfortunately, you can't actually tell what area you are supposed to be in as the majority of the ride takes place in areas of generic concrete slabs. It doesn't forget to add in a reasonable amount of speed and splashes, though. Phantasialand are keen to tell you that for the climax of the ride you drop 20 metres - the worlds highest for this type of ride. Getting up to that height is half the fun, though, as your boat literally travels in a vertical, enclosed lift that is quite impressive. It's just a shame that the remainder of the ride is so dull.
