11/14/2009 - Jet Rescue - Submitted by sirgeoff on 9/22/2011
On the night of the 14th November 2009, I was attending a dinner with the SDA at seaworld, Gold Coast, Australia. along with 7 others I joined the jet sea rescue ride. It was the second last ride of the night before all rides stopped for the night. The ride took off with such force, that I was thrown against the left hand seat protector that resulted in two of my ribs being shattered. I reported the matter in a very polite letter to the management. I recieved no reply from them, but did recieve a telephone call from a gentleman with the opening sentence" My name is...... and I am an ex Queensland Police Officer hired to investiaget your claim against Sea World". In my letter I had clearly stated that it was not my intention to seek damages as I was covered by my insurance company. I was then informed that Sea World accepted no responsibility whatsoever for any death or injury occuring on the ride as all rides were undertaken at your own risk.
