Theme Park Insider readers offer their ratings and reviews for Fire-In-The-Hole, a roller coaster at Silver Dollar City. (The minimum height to ride is 36 inches.)

More dark ride than coaster, Fire-in-the-Hole propel riders slowly past various scenes of stalwart firemen battling a blaze set by a group of vigilantes known as the Baldknobbers. A few surprise dips and splashdown serve to provide some minor, but welcome thrills.

The amount of water involved in the "splashdown" is completely controlled by the ride ops, and is minimized during colder weather.

Guests 36" to 42" tall may ride with an adult companion.

A true classic and clearly loved by park visitors. I don't think I've yet to have a ride where somebody on our train didn't yell "Fire in the hole!" - Tim Chatlos

Fun ride. It was actually hand made by Silver Dollar City, not by a coaster manufacturer. It is now over 30 years old. Fire-In-The-Hole is one of only 2 coasters like it in the world. The other version is Blazing Fury at Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee which was built when the park was called and owned by Silver Dollar City, Tennessee. - Steven Lee

Fire-in-the-Hole is a dark ride that uses a coaster train to propel riders slowly past various scenes of a town in serious trouble. The experience is similar to a budget version of the Magic Kingdom's Pirates of the Caribbean. Overall the ride is quite fun and imminently repeatable. Keep in mind that this ride is not a fast moving indoor coaster, but a slow moving dark ride with a few thrills thrown in for good measure. - James Rao
