About Rattler

If you step on this snake, you're sure to get a bite. The Rattler is one of the most venomous woodies in the world and was the biggest woodie when it opened. But since then, the giant 160 ft drop had 1/4 of it taken off. The Rattler now stands a 180 ft tall, 124 ft and 60 degreed drop rattling-machine. It is still one of the biggest and most venomous wooden coasters in the world. It features a giant fan-turn, tripple helix, a tunnel, and other rattler-like moves. The ride starts out by doing a shaking turn which leads to a 180 ft lift-hill. After that, you recieve your first bite, as it jerks down the super rattl'n drop. Then, it drags you up the giant fan-turn. At the bottom of the fan-turn, it rattles the worse it does the whole ride. After that, still rattling horibly, it takes you up to the top of a cliff. At that point, it toys with you a bit. It slows down to about an average of 20 mph as it does a giant tripple helix that features several camelbacks. On the helix you relax for a bit, until the serpent hits blockbreaks. Then, you recieve your second bite as it dives down another rattling drop that enters a limestone tunnel. When it gets out of the tunnel, it swings around the station and then circles around the lift. Soon the ride has come to a complete stop. many people say this is a painful ride, yet some say the rattling makes it more thrilling. Just remember, if you step on this ride and it bites you, you asked for it! -- Last edited by Asher Oosterbaan

Used to be the meanest wooden coaster around. Rode it when it first opened in '92 and had a very intense first drop. After the reprofile, it lost a lot of it's bite. Still not a bad ride, although some may not like the roughness. - Derek Potter

Reprofiled many times but still almost unrideable. I've never been on a coaster where after 30 seconds I was hanging on for dear life and praying for it to end as quickly as possible. - Todd Houts

I know many people will disagree with me about this, but that's because I actually prefer the rough woodies. TO ME, I think The Rattler is the best in the park. I love the thrillingness of this ride. However, I don't think that they should have taken off 1/4 of the drop. I still think this is the most thrilling in the park because of the rattling. Also, still love the drop and the dive into the tunnel. All in all, this is my favorite woodie and also my favorite coaster. But let me give you a few little warnings: There is a big jerk at the bottom of the drop, the most rattling part is the bottom of the fan-turn and going up to the helix, and it stops soooo hard at the ending break. This ride is worth the wait and I would say that it is a must do. P.S.- If my brother Ian puts a post on this that says that he got back pains the whole 2 times he did it; know that he naturally has a back problem. P.S.S. It's sooo fun that I've done this 11 times! - Asher Oosterbaan
