8/18/2005 - Mission: Weekend Warriors - Submitted by sharonlouise on 8/21/2005 During an extreme sports show at around 6 p.m. a female jet skier went off a 6-8 foot jump. Upon landing, she didn't clear the jump area right away. A male on a jetski immediately behind her went off the jump and landed directly on top of her head and body. Right after the accident the announcer closed the show and asked everyone to leave (it took awhile to clear the stadium). [Editor's note: The performer, Ann-Marie Elia, 32, of Reseda, Calif., was treated and released from CentraState Medical Center.] Unverified Reports5/25/2009 - Great American Scream Machine - Submitted by casteemr on 5/26/2009Because the line was so short in front of the Great American Scream Machine, my boyfriend and I decided to jump on the ride. After only 10 minutes in line (typical coaster lines around 40-75 minutes long), we were on board. The Scream Machine is an older coaster, and admittedly not expected to be as smooth as the newer metal coasters. After the first decline, I felt an enormous strain on my spine. Each incline follewed by the jarring valley became increasingly more painful. All, told the following morning was spent in the urgent care getting x-rays that revealed my neck was bent against the natural curvature. Many pain pills and muscle realaxers are to come. I may end up with a normal neck after physical therapy.6/6/2005 - King Da Ka - Submitted by SpaceKase on 8/7/2006 After waiting 6 hours to ride king da ka I was finally loaded on a train. My husband was waiting in the viewing area for king da ka which is located off to the right side of the launch area to take a picture of me on the ride with our camera phone. As the train rolled into the launch position I briefly looked at him and smiled turning my head slightly to the right for just a brief moment so he could snap the picture immediately bringing my head back into a straight postion the buzzer went off and before i knew it the ride was over. After king da ka my husband decided to try superman with me, when we got off the superman we left the park and headed home. The next day upon waking up i was unable to move the hole upper right side of my back, shoulder and arm was in excruciating pain, my husband immediately rushed me to the emergency room located in staten island university hospital south site. I explained to the er doctor that the only thing i had done recently that i had never done before was ride king da ka and i explained about having my head slightly turned so my husband could take the picture of me on the ride. The doctor administered me perkiset as well as a muscle relaxer due to the extreme pain i was in and because i was unable to move my upper right side, he ordered multiple x-rays of my back and upper right side after being unable to find a cause for the excruciating pain i was in he referred me for a follow up to a specialist to have an M.R.I. done and gave me a prescription for vicodin as well as a muscle relaxer. Since my husband and I do not have health insurance i have been unable to have the M.R.I. done and have been unable to get a diagnosis. I still have pain in my upper right side and i can no longer carry heavy bags using my right arm, i am also unable to sit in any postion for more than a couple hours.7/5/2004 - Medusa - Submitted by greatadventureguy on 6/8/2008 This wasn't a major accident but it could have been. Ive noticed that this ride has been having major problems of late (2004-2008) It seems to always be being evacuated and isnt a good sign. However to the point. My friends and I were riding Medusa on our fourth ride of the day in the middle row (row 5) when while halfway up the lift hill the locks on the restraints unlocked. They popped up. Throughout the entire ride we had to hold on pulling them down and my friend who isnt to big almost fell out during the barrel roll between the immelman and the cobra roll. It was frightening. Although we weren't injured except for the pain on our arms from holding down so tight, this isn't really acceptable.6/5/2004 - Robin: The Chiller - Submitted by Jamdwm87 on 5/10/2007 I don't know if this counts as an injury but the ride attendants did not put my seat belt on at all, so after being shot out of the tunnel at 60mph we had to strap the belts on ourselves but we could not get the lap bar down. I've been on this ride after the incident and the attendants have become much better. No Date Reported - Great American Scream Machine - Submitted by Name Withheld on 6/20/2003 My friend poped her eardrum on the GASM. She had to get surgery on it.
