so true -- Submitted by steelers on 4/9/2009

This is very sad. Be sure to remind your kids, if you are a parent that signs in amusement parks and otherwise are to be strictly obeyed. This kid and his buddy were apparently outside the park and hopped two fences to get back in. There were warning signs with "Danger" on them. Bottom line: obey the signs and safety rules everywhere. No one spends money on a sign that is not necessary. My heart breaks and goes out to the parents and family and youth group for their loss. May his loss not be in vain, tell your kids of the consequences of disobeying warning signs so this will not happen again. -- Submitted by Breabonnie on 8/3/2008

    7/27/2006 - Goliath - Submitted by robert on 7/28/2006
A 45-year-old man passed out while riding Goliath, then later died of what authorities called an apparent heart attack.

A 58-year-old park employee was struck by the leg of a 14-year-old girl seated on the front car of the ride. The man was pronounced dead at a local hospital. The employee was in a restricted area underneath the coaster, which suspends passengers in ski-lift-style chairs.

The teenage girl suffered an undisclosed leg injury.

The girl that struck the man was my girlfriend at the time, we were both 14. I sat next to her on the ride. The man died on the spot because we heard his skull get crushed. He didn't move right after the strike. She splintered her leg but is okay. She ended up suing six flags and winning, I opted to not participate even though I could have won some money. -- Submitted by dboyer87 on 6/29/2009

6/11/2009 - The Great American Scream Machine - Submitted by mattand2895 on 6/12/2009
I rode in the back seat. While going down the first hill, it felt like something snapped in my back. I couldn't breathe, yell, or talk for a few seconds, and I had terrible back pain for the rest of the ride. My back hurt for several days after. This has happened on one other wooden coaster before (the Gwazi at Busch Gardens: Tampa). The exact same thing happened on the ride except the pain was much worse and I went to the emergency room just to make sure that it wasn't serious.

  • 6/8/2009 - Acrophobia - Submitted by arlinghaus on 6/16/2009
During the drop of Acrophobia, I was free-falling to the point that I was not touching the seat. When the ride slowed down, I hit the seat extremely hard and have had very bad tailbone pain since (10 days as of this writing). I cannot sit for long periods of time (e.g., >30 minutes) in a chair with a cushion and not even for 10 minutes in a chair without a cusion. At this point, I have decided that I should have a doctor take a look.

Rode in back of coaster. Coster is so rough/jerky that I felt something pop in my back, i had neck pain immediately and the following day the pain had become severe. the doctor has diagnosed me with whiplash. I have been out of work for THREE days because of the pain!!!! Although I have anti-inflamation pills and muscle relaxers, I'm still coping with pain.

  • 6/10/2008 - Skull Island - Submitted by creds10 on 6/18/2008
Skull Island at Six Flags over GA is very dangerous to kids. My daughter fell and cut her thigh, knee, and elbow. She was bleeding very badly. Skull Island is not safe at all. I had to use the first aid kit and put it on her wounds and 5 other kids needed 1st aide too at that same time. Other parents offered to help me with my daughter, but no concerns from Six Flags employees. I had to walk and carry her out the park. Also in the changing room another little girl fell and bumped her head. They need to put some type of water mats down for safety. I will never go back.

  • 3/29/2008 - Ninja roller coaster - Submitted by momspafford on 4/15/2008
My son who is 63lbs and 10 years old decided to ride the Ninja. He was tall enough by 7 inches. He had not ridden a roller coaster in 2 years and was very nervous and excited. He did not hear the "workers"( talking with their mouth right next to the microphone and with no articulation,) tell him to put his head against the head rest.He didn't. His neck started burning 2 hours later. It started raining so we left but his neck got worse and worse. We drove home to Mobile the next day and he was in torture. I took him to the pediatrician on MOnday and he was diagnosed with severe cervical strain also known as whiplash. It was so bad he missed 5 days of school and his jaw also locked up. He could only sip liquids and eat soft food. We saw an orthopedist for x-rays of the neck and on oral surgeon for x-rays of the jaw. His jaw still hurts and makes a crunching sound. It also hurts after every meal from chewing. He was tall enough to ride the Ninja but I believe there should be weight component also. This was a terrible and painful injury for my son. Everyone with thin children be aware of this!!!!

I'm sad to hear this happened. I don't think a weight requirement would make a difference however, based on your posting. Weight is not the issue as it would have made no difference with whiplash. The only thing making a difference is height, and your son was tall enough. Had your son followed directions, and, as harsh as this sounds, followed common sense, this would not have happened. I apologize for your inconvinience. -- Submitted by Eric5675 on 3/29/2009

  • 6/20/2006 - Thunder River - Submitted by sesandren on 6/20/2006
When we came out of the first tunnel on Thunder River the wave jerked our boat and it made my six year old son go completely sideways. He hit the to protruding pieces that are beside the steps on the boat. He had a huge gash taht was gushing blood. Luckily my mother had a paper towel with her so I was able to place it on his wound and apply pressure. We yelled to one of the monitors that are placed around the ride and she got on her walkie talkie. We had no choice but to finish out the ride. When we got to the "boat house," they knew nothing of the accident. They contacted first aid and within ten minutes or so we had someone there. They basically put a fresh gauze on it and told us to go the ER. The head of the first aid area told us they inspected the boat and there was no blood found on it. Well, no kidding....it is a water ride and it happened at the beginning of the ride. Our clothes showed the severity of his cut. He ended up with six stitches to his eyebrow. This is not a safe ride. The ridges need to be padded and each seat needs its on seatbelt.

I CANNOT VERIFY THIS PARTICULAR INCIDENT. BUT I AM VERY FAMILIAR WITH THIS RIDE BECAUSE I HAVE RIDDEN IT BEFORE. I CANNOT REMEMBER THE DATE BUT OUR CHURCH WENT THERE ABOUT 2 YEARS AGO. ON THAT DAY WE RODE THE NINJA. MANY OF US WERE COMPLAINING OF HEADACHES AND NECK ACHES BECAUSE THE RIDE IS VERY ROUGH, AND THE RESTRAINT SYSTEM BEATS YOUR EARS OFF. -- Submitted by ALLYKAT on 6/25/2007

7/15/2003 - Batman The Ride - Submitted by Name Withheld on 8/7/2003
An approximately 40 year old man collaped from chest pains after riding a roller coster in the Batman area. His elderly parents requested help from park officials and were told that security must be sent first before the park paramedic could be called. It took over 30 minutes for the security guard to show up who when ask did he know CPR responded with a no head shake. When the park paramedic was called by security he showed up about 10 minutes later with only a empty wheel chair. He did not bring any supplies or defibulator.

  • 6/11/2002 - Acrophobia - Submitted by moilounoi on 7/19/2002
I rode on acrophobia with my friends. The feature where riders are rotated 15 degrees forward was not being used and instead riders were being dropped sittin upright. An employee informed us that the person with the key to unlock the mechanism had not shown up for work. I was dropped sitting upright. I have had constant lower back pain for over a month and I am being treated. I feel that the entire force of the drop was borne on my lower back and this would not have happened if I had been leaned forward.

I was told by a former foreman of Batman the Ride last year that this exact event occured. I was told that a lady came back with no pulse and it was because of a rare heart disease she did not know about and it was after she had just had a baby. -- Submitted by smitch12 on 8/25/2002

I just wanted everybody to know that the woman that was on that ride didnt come off of it the same way she was. Shes is my family. And I was visiting here that summer when it happened. She was to get married that fall. My family suffered a lot of pain because of what happened. She is now braindead and has the learning ability of a three year old. I miss her the way she once was. Its so hard to deal with something like that. So please to all of you that read this think twice before just jumpin onto a ride because its "fun". People get hurt and in the end its really not worth it. I love you DANA. -- Submitted by dria8 on 11/5/2006

My fiancée and myself were waiting in the fast pass area for this ride when this incident occurred. We noticed that everyone had exited the ride, yet they were still not allowing anyone on. One of the ride personnel was at a seat area and frantically motioning for one of the other employees. Both myself and my fiancée have advanced first aid training, and asked if assistance was needed. The blank and pale look of the employee as well as the terrified look of a young girl close by told us all we needed to know. We jumped the small partition and moved to the seat. There was a young lady between the age of 18-25, slumped back in the seat and the Six Flag employee. We checked vitals immediately, and the young lady was in full arrest, as well as she had lost control of her bladder. There was no emergency people on site at that time, and our assessment was to remove her from the ride, while keeping neck as stable as possible. I actually had to threaten the employee to move out of the way. We moved her to the side area, checked for any obvious injuries and started full CPR. I told the Six Flags employee we need an actual ambulance and not just their first aid team. We continued CPR until the Six Flags CPR team arrived. At this point it seemed like forever but was likely only 10 min or so. They assisted in taking over, and I began a better examination of the girl checking for any bites or stings, but found nothing. I then questioned the young girl that was with her as to any medications or anything else she may have been taking, but nothing. The actual EMT's (I believe it was Cobb County) arrived and administered I believe atropine and used a defibrillator on her. They got a weak pulse and then transported her to Parkway Hospital off of Thornton Road. We went to the ER as well, to offer comfort to the young girl, who is her sister, and then later left. We found it odd that we never read anything about the incident until I found this site, and people I recount the incident sometimes do not believe me because there was never a news article about it. -- Submitted by TSechler on 8/29/2009

    6/14/1999 - NINJA - Submitted by fairefly on 8/19/2002
This happened to me first hand. I am 5'1" tall, short but tall enough to ride coasters. While riding the Ninja @ Six Flags GA my head was slammed against the overhead shoulder restraint repeatedly. As a result I suffered a ruptured ear drum which did require VERY costly and very painful surgery to repair. (approx $9,000 all told). At the time it happened I wasn't aware I had suffered a serious injury, as it wasn't really painful. It just felt/sounded like my ear was clogged with water. I wasn't worried, so I didn't report the accident to the park. Now I wish I had. I was pleased to discover this site, and to be given the opportunity to warn others, expecially those of smaller stature like myself, to take caution when riding this ride. I know I'll avoid it in the future. It's way to rough, and I consider this a dangerous thing!
