Accidents Involving Injury at AcrophobiaOfficial U.S. federal and state data on theme park accidents is almost nonexistent. That's why Theme Park Insider users are creating this visitor-maintained database of theme park accidents--to give public at least some information about attraction safety records. Do you know of, or have been part of, an accident involving injury at Acrophobia? Report it to Theme Park Insider. (If you are looking for general information about Acrophobia, please visit Theme Park Insider's reader reviews for Acrophobia.) Unverified Reports6/8/2009 - Submitted by arlinghaus on 6/16/2009During the drop of Acrophobia, I was free-falling to the point that I was not touching the seat. When the ride slowed down, I hit the seat extremely hard and have had very bad tailbone pain since (10 days as of this writing). I cannot sit for long periods of time (e.g., >30 minutes) in a chair with a cushion and not even for 10 minutes in a chair without a cusion. At this point, I have decided that I should have a doctor take a look.6/11/2002 - Submitted by moilounoi on 7/19/2002 I rode on acrophobia with my friends. The feature where riders are rotated 15 degrees forward was not being used and instead riders were being dropped sittin upright. An employee informed us that the person with the key to unlock the mechanism had not shown up for work. I was dropped sitting upright. I have had constant lower back pain for over a month and I am being treated. I feel that the entire force of the drop was borne on my lower back and this would not have happened if I had been leaned forward.
If you have additional information that can confirm, clarify or refute any of these reports, please e-mail the editor! (Please don't forget to include the attraction's name in your message.)
