Mine TrainRoller coasterMinimum height to ride: 42 inches About Mine TrainThe Runaway Mine Train is next to the Mini Mine Train. It's faster and more heavily banked than the mini version, but still not a major thrill coaster. The strength of this ride is two plunges into a tunnel which is even better after dark. This is an original ride for SFOT opening in 1966. It was the first mine themed roller coaster and one of the first tubular steel track coasters. -- Last edited by Michael Sherlock [Update this description | Read previous versions] Photos from Mine TrainSafety
Readers' Opinions
It's not the most thrilling, but it has it's high points especially in the back seats. I mostly enjoy the nostalgia than anything else. When I go to Six Flags, my day will not be complete without riding it. It's very fun and my very first real roller coaster. - Sha Windham This ride can be fun, but it was pretty mean to me and my family three times within 2 days. First of all, my poor 7 year-old brother was stung 5 times by a yellow jacket. Next, the same brother decided that my mom was too slow, and ran away to the line, where he had gotten on, but the gate closed before my mom got on too. His consequence... his train got stuck on the first lift for a bit of time. Lastly, I had a walky-talky on my belt that was soon knocked off by the restraints. When I tried to pick it up, it fell through a crack in the station. And so there it remains today. lol! Having said that, the ride is enjoyable, but a bit jerky, and at times, you feel a need to go faster. If you'r a thrill seeker and want to ride this, get the back row; otherwise, the ride is pretty slow and boring. - Asher Oosterbaan
