About Creature From The Black Lagoon

A 25-minute Broadway-caliber mini-musical, based on the 1954 Universal horror classic and featuring substantial doses of adult humor. Not for kids, but often funny for the grown-ups. -- Last edited by Robert Niles

Universal has popped out a show that is edgy for the sake of being edgy. And no matter how excited forty-something year adults get over a "Show for them" I can't help but wonder how in the world they do not see the juvenility of the jokes in this show. The "Male Growth Cream" 'plot twist' (If you have seen the show, you know what I mean) is so ridiculous that I felt it was almost an insult to my intelligence. So while the show was (as always) visually stunning, and the actors quite earnest, and even the opening song or two was great, the show as a whole was quite weak. If you want edgy entertainment, let's get them to keep the Bill and Ted show in there year round. At least that had decent jokes. I gave the show a 2/5 based merely on the great special effects and performances given by the actors. You say Creature hit its mark, but that makes me wonder what mark it was shooting for exactly. - Jacob Sundstrom

I just watched the show a few days and it was just what I expected. It's not the greatest thing ever but it is better than the previous shows held inside this theater(Fear Factor Live and Spider-Man Rocks). If you go in expecting a campy and quirky show you will find the show funny and entertaining like I did. You will be dissappointed if you expect a serious show. The content of the show is a bit edgy for younger kids, but nothing to bad. The actors/actress give their best effort and the set pieces and effects are ok. - Manny Barron

I was at Universal for four days this past week saw the show three times only once did they get thru the show with nothing going wrong one time the lady's mic went out and the other the swing she rides broke down - Joseph Staconis

It's a pretty decent show once you're above that certain age bracket. With the actors' efforts, I definitely don't think it deserves a 4. More like a 6 - 7. I understand it has a pretty weak plot, but the whole concept of the show is meant to be campy. - Jon Fu

it was okay, buh REALLY weird. buh i was laughing when i saw what happens to the girl. - Lucas Lee

Universal's created a first-rate production that challenges theme park conventions with adult humor. It's PG-13 (not R and certainly not X), and quite funny if you're into raunchy jokes. I wouldn't take my kids (at least not until they hit their teen years), but this is already among my top three favorite live shows at any theme park. - Robert Niles
