About Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom

Location: The Magic Kingdom is part of the Walt Disney World Resort, located just off I-4, south of Orlando, You can get driving directions by clicking the Walt Disney World Magic Kingdom link on Theme Park Insider's Google map of U.S. theme parks.

History: The Magic Kingdom was the first theme park at Walt Disney World, opening on October 1, 1971. It opened with two Disney hotels: Disney's Contemporary Resort, and Disney's Polynesian Resort, and twenty three attractions. Unfortunately... Walt Disney didn't live to see the day it opened. In 2007 17 million people visited it making it the most visited park in the world.

Hours: http://disneyworld.disney.go.com. Walt Disney World is open 365 days a year. The Fourth of July and the week between Christmas and New Year's are the busiest days at the park.

Readers' Tips for Visiting Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom

[213 + / 26 -] Call 407-WDW-DINE up to 90 days before your visit to make your restaurant reservations. (This used to be 180 days.)

[96 + / 25 -] If staying at a Disney-owned resort, take advantage of the Extra Magic hours, where lines are short and crowds are small! It's the best time to visit some of the more popular attractions while feeling like you're the only ones in the park!

[75 + / 6 -] Can't find anywhere to sit in Columbia Harbor House? Try upstairs! Many do not know that this resturant is actually two floors!
