Wettest you've ever gotten on a park ride?

November 9, 2024, 11:41 AM

Just offhand but what ride at a theme park got you the most soaked?

For me, Popyeye's Barge at IOA. I've been on so many rapid water rides but this was stunning how soaked to the bone down to socks I got. No wonder Universal has the "heating booths" right nearby to dry off.

Wave pool at Typhoon Lagoon.

Popeye and Bluto's Bilge Rat Barges, and it isn't even close. As my wife said after, it's unforgiving...it just dumps water on you for no reason. That's probably why it is a walk on ride when the temps dip below the 80's.

Yeah, it's the barges. Water. Everywhere.

Besides Popeye, other super soaking barge rides are Roaring Rapids at Six Flags Great America and Congo River Rapids at Busch Gardens Tampa.

Add one for Popeye and Bluto's. I was warned in advance it was the wettest ride ever created. A minute into the ride, I was as wet as I thought you could get, and then there were still five minutes to go. I'm pretty sure I would have been drier if I'd jumped into a pool with my clothes on.

Get the feeling that Popeye & Bluto is winning this ?

Here's another vote for the Bilge Rat Barges. Christmas Day 2002. Got soaked thru and the weak sun was fading fast. No driers then so far as I knew. Went everywhere in Animal KIngdom trying to buy some shorts. No luck so stuck it out for another hour or so before giving in and going back to Hotel in Plaza Blvd near Downtown Disney.
Think the uncomfortable bus journey back may even run Popeye's Rapids close for wetness.

I've not been to Universal Orlando, but at Six Flags Magic Mountain, there used to be a water slide in the main park (not the water park) that people rode in their normal clothes. It was themed to the Looney Tunes and located near the Bugs Bunny kids area.

I came off the ride completely soaked and decided to leave the park right afterwards, which was on a relatively cold day. I turned the heat in the car on high, took off my soaked jeans, and used my jacket to cover my lap as I drove back home.

Congo River Rapids BGT

The reason is simple - There was no line so we went On it Three times in a row without even getting off the attraction.....

Popeye for sure

Canyon River Rapids - Hersheypark

There was a corner with a waterfall that the boat often got stuck in and I was under those falls for a good solid minute before we broke loose. Right next to it was a Huss Rainbow called The Conastoga and it was tradition to use that as a "spin cycle" to dry yourself out afterwards. It took about 3 rides until you were somewhat dry.

@ me

My big boo boo. It was Congo River Rapids at Animal KIngdom where I got soaked on Xmas Day in 2002.

So my sincerest apologies to Popeye and Bluto and anyone else noticing my error.

Doh !

I'll also have to give it to Popeye, but the raft ride we rode at Phantasialand this summer (River Quest) was pretty wet for us too, though not as "equal opportunity" as Popeye is.

Popeye & Bluto especially by the eighth consecutive time. I had to be poured out of the raft into a bucket by the staff.

Valhalla in Blackpool, UK can get you very wet on occasions. It is also a fantastic themed ride.

I love front row of Jurassic River Adventure at IOA, but front row only.

Castaway Creek, Typhoon Lagoon

I’m gonna cheat here and name 2. Bluto’s Barge at IOA will pretty get every rider a pretty solid degree of soaked with great consistency. However, if you are one of the unlucky (or lucky) guests that hit the bottom of the drop hill first on Kali River Rapids at AK then a miniature tsunami is going to completely envelope you, making you absolutely soaked to the bone and either thanking your stars that you wore appropriate garb or wishing that you had.

The barges at IOA, and there's no other better answer.

Popeye and Ripsaw Falls wins for sure. Any more then that and your basically swimming in a pool at that point! lol
