Discovery Cove – The Gem we never talk about.

July 18, 2025, 10:52 AM

Discovery Cove is one of the nicest places to visit in Florida. Although we don’t seem to mention it here often.

I have been to Discovery Cove several times and it is so tropical and beautiful. It may not be a Theme Park, but I believe it is a Place worth visiting.

Yes, it is costly but if you piggyback an offer they have where you get SeaWorld and Aquatica, then the average cost per person is more reasonable.

Swimming with fish, bird aviary, Dolphins, food and booze included. What’s not to like.

It is very relaxing and a Nice break from the Florida Theme parks.

Let un know if you have visited or might visit.
And have a Lovely day.

I considered visiting on my most recent SeaWorld trip. I really did. But for some pools and a lazy river, even if food is included, there are so many water parks worldwide that offer a similar (albeit much worse) experience. Unless there's something I'm missing, as someone who's never been.

Discovery Cove is really nice, however, there are probably other choices outside of Florida that offer a similar experience at a better value. I recently returned from Mexico and had the great pleasure of experiencing Xelha (and several other Xcaret properties) which is very similar to Discovery Cove, but honestly makes it look quaint by comparison. I would elaborate, but the number of ways in which it trounces DC is too much to list. Seriously, give it a Google. It’s almost as if someone from SeaWorld visited Xelha (it’s been around since ‘84) and decided to copy their homework, but make it crappier and charge substantially more. Ultimately, I think people don’t want to slow down and relax on an Orlando vacation (though they really should).

Sorry but I just can't get over the price to buy your dolphin swim photos...which range from $250-280. No thats not the price of admission + dolphin swim + the photos...that's the price JUST FOR THE PHOTOS lmao.

Discovery Cove has been a staple for us for several years as it offers the best relaxing full day in the region bar none and the best value for money combination ticket. We did the dolphin swim many years' ago so we just go to relax for the day with all food and drink provided. The Ultimate ticket is exceptional value for money compared to other combination park tickets. I am going on 2023 prices but for an extra $50 odd we got unlimited access to SeaWorld, Aquatica and Busch Gardens with unlimited free parking.

@TheMan25 - You can get Discovery Cove package for $190 which includes
14 unlimited days to SeaWorld - Aquatica - Busch Gardens.

That is a Great price.

Or for $139 which includes booze and Food.

You do stuff like the dolphin swim Once is a lifetime, Not every visit.

But yes, the Initial sticker shock looks high.

We went to Disney AK and it for one day Only and it was $120 for one day and we had to pick the date and it rained....

I do miss the days of Free beer samples at SeaWorld parks. And I am not a big Drinker. hahahahahaha

Discovery Cove is definitely a unique experience, one that's often overlooked by this site. I did a brief report of our experience back in 2022...

I also agree that United Parks plays a little bit of "gotcha" with the dolphin swim experience, not only the photo, buy other aspects of that experience. I'd also say it's one of those experiences that's 1-and-done unless you really feel the need to have that all-inclusive feel in Orlando for a reasonable price. It's a great way to spend a rest day either upon arrival to Orlando or on your departure day, because Discovery Cove is such a great place to sit back and relax, which is the antithesis of every other theme park in the market.

Brian, I mean this in the least offensive way possible, but do you decide whether or not you capitalize a word based off of a random number generator?

July 25, 2025, 9:56 AM

VelocicoasterFan - I do, Depending on the value of the Word.

If the RNG is a multiple of 3 and also divisible By 6 but Not to exceed 11 - Then it gets a Capitalization.

Thanks For Noticing my Style.

And all these years I thought it was a byproduct of typing with a pencil between your teeth because you couldn't get your arms out of the straightjacket!
