Cashless Theme Parks

I am wondering when you folks think Orlando Theme Parks will become Cashless.

There are several Cashless parks around now. The Resort we stay at is 100% Cashless and has been for years now.

There are ways in Disney to use MAgic Band and whatnot. You can buy Disney gift cards or use Mobil Pay.

Since Orlando is such an International Place to visit, I am wondering If or When the Major parks will go 100% cashless… Or maybe Naver?

And what do you Prefer cash or Cashless?

My best friends call me Cash. hahahaah (It’s from a Movie line)

Maybe Bobby Niles can do a Vote on this....

This isn’t necessarily representative of the entire park, but at the Food & Wine festival at Epcot last year and again at the Festival of the Arts this year all of the food stands were cashless. It’s definitely convenient not to have to carry cash. But on the other end if I’m walking around just snacking here and there and having drinks, it’s nice to have a physical eye on money that I’ve just planned on for that evening.

It’s already begun as SeaWorld, Busch Gardens, Legoland, and Volcano Bay have all gone cashless. Probably a matter of time before the rest of the parks eventually switch over as the benefits (speeds up transactions and reduces potential for error/counterfeiting) outweigh the drawbacks.

Well One of the Problems I see:

Let's say you enjoy a beer and a pretzel, pay in cash, since Florida taxes every damn thing, you end up with loose change.

One thing they could do is price accordingly so Tax is included with the price, and you end up with an even dollar amount.

They already do this with parking. They charge $30.05 and $1.95 Tax and end up at $32.00 fee. (Wow 32.00 parking fee - when we first started or visit Orlando at was $12.00)

I can only imagine the scale of infrastructure needed to support cash floats at magic kingdom alone must be epic, never mind over the entire WDW property. Going cashless would clearly make sense logistically, but how would the press handle it?

FARTS and now F&G all have cashless food booths. But the other wrinkle is they now add the tax as extra.

Whereas before, if the beef tips were $7:50, then I gave them cash $7:50. Now, the beef tips are $7:50, but tax is added on.
So we're being royally screwed every which way by Disney.

I just buy a $50 gift card and use that.

Much easier than a few $$ here and few $$ there on my credit card.
