One for the FAQ: Disney World and Disneyland pin drop days

Here is a piece of advice that I don't think I have posted before.

If you are not an obsessive and professional Disney pin trader, avoid rope dropping the theme parks on the first Tuesday of the month, especially at Disneyland.

That's the day when Disney drops its new, limited-edition, park-exclusive pins for the month. As a result, pro pin resellers will be queuing for hours before the parks open, leading to abnormally long waits to get in on that morning.

Just arrive on time - not early - and you can walk in with minimal security wait and still low wait times for attractions, since the pin buyers all went to the stores.

The pin traders have become a scourge on the parks (as much as the limited edition merch hoarders/resellers). It's gotten so bad at WDW that they've resorted to keeping the Disney Springs parking structures closed until 8 AM on release days because pin traders were queuing hours in advance in the wee hours of the morning (or even the night before). Pin trading used to be a innocent, fun, community-building activity that was a great diversion/hobby for all ages, but now it's become a ruthless business driven by sharks more interested in profit than the joy of collecting and connecting with other collectors.

Good tip, makes sense to avoid that day if you’re not into pin trading and just want a normal park experience.
