Six Flags has reached a new level of pathetic
Six Flags Magic Mountain's official youtube has posted a video hyping up...no, not a new ride announcement, not information about an event, not a new food offering...
...they posted a hype video that X2 is now running two trains. This ride has been generally running two trains for 25 years and now its touted as an accomplishment that you should be excited for. This is one of their biggest and most popular coasters, its the last week of June, and apparently this ride (which is designed to run 3 so it should be running 2 at all times and rotating the three trains through refurbs) is just now adding a second? I mean, how pathetic can you get?
On semi-related news there was an article posted in the Dallas Morning News about how badly SFOT is being ran with one train ops everywhere, peeling paint, staff cuts, etc. You know things are bad when the freaking Dallas Morning News of all publications is writing articles about bad the park is ran. They even said Tormenta's delay is a blessing in disguise because if it were ready for the world cup the park would not be able to handle the crowds.

Eltororyan has a great video about the development of this ride. It's like 2 hours, but it's incredibly descriptive. Great watch.
As you're neither a local nor a Six Flags fan you probably aren't aware of this, but SFMM sent two of X2's three trains off to S&S for a full rebuild last year and has been running a single train since then. For locals, this is pretty exciting news as the coaster has been averaging 1.5-2 hour waits instead of its usual 45-60 minutes during that period. Hopefully this project will allow the park to more consistently run two trains, as you're correct that this coaster (along with every other coaster in the park with three trains) should be managed to always have two trains available to run.

I'm working on a trip report from our most recent visit to SFMM, which was one of the best, most productive days I've ever had at a SF park. X2 (should it really be called that anymore when there's no on-board audio or other effects?), was running just the 1 train when we were there, but lines were averaging <30 minutes after the initial surge following park opening. The second train should keep waits low, not only from the increased capacity, but will allow them to operate both the load and unload platform that will improve efficiency. The second train also brings the return of FastLane to the coaster, which was the only major coaster in the park without it when we were there 2 weeks ago.
