$7 billion Manga Theme Park(s) Coming to Paris

August 27, 2026, 6:37 AM

The French and Saudi governments have shaken hands on a $7billion theme park venture about 30 miles NW from Paris focussing on Japanese manga and Dragon Ball Z anime. The project will be led by Qiddiya Investment Company. There could be up to 3 theme parks in one super complex. Reports are suggesting it could be on the grounds of the former Mirapolis Park which closed 35 years ago. No opening dates discussed.

I know nothing about manga or anime so it is completely lost on me.

Well with the Epic failure of LIV golf they had to put all that money somewhere...

You are closer to the truth than you realise, Brian. The Saudis have an aggressive business strategy diversifying from relying on oil and gas of which theme parks is one of.

But to Brian's point, if Saudi money only sticks around for a few years looking for a quick, oil-like, profit, that's not the time commitment that major infrastructure-dependent attractions need.

But Robert, is this solely based on LIV golf or a succession of other major project investment withdrawals? I know nothing about golf so detached from the cause and impact but I do see Saudi's diversifying its investment port-folio and territories and this government is very pro-Saudi. Maybe the recent $7bn Franco-Saudi venture announcement is a better measure regarding their long-term entertainment appetite. If they withdrawal from that or scale it down then I bow down to the consensus.
