Walt Disney World update: More rooms, more stores... and a gas war!

March 1, 2007, 11:58 AM · A couple stories out of Walt Disney World today:

First, Disney has confirmed the news that Kevin Yee reported last year, that there will be a new Downtown Disney-style mixed use development on the Western Beltway, for "value conscious" visitors. (As the All-Star Resorts were to the Contemporary and Polynesian, this will be to Downtown Disney, it appears.)

In addition, Disney will partner with the now Bill Gates-co-owned Four Seasons on a hotel to to open in 2010. As part of the development, the Osprey Ridge golf course will be rebuilt and rebranded as a Four Seasons property.

But the story you *really* want to talk about comes from Disney's Animal Kingdom. Lemme defer to the Orlando Sentinel's lead of the day:

A tussle between two workers in the hippo pond at Walt Disney World's Animal Kingdom overnight ended with one man doused in gasoline and the other in jail, according to the Orange County Sheriff's Office.

Here's the rest of the story.

Gas fight? Wow! At least it wasn't during normal operation hours!

March 1, 2007 at 3:19 PM · Sorry, i know this has nothing to do with the disney bulletin, but i am pretty pissed off right now with the editor of this site. I want to know why isnt Mr. Robert Niles posting the news i had about Busch Gardens Africa? As far as i know i did abide by the guidelines for writers and it is news that I know that the public at large want to know and that i havent seen anyone else post that specific news anywhere else on this site. Help me out people....he's not responding to my emails either. Maybe with a little public support i can get my answer.
March 1, 2007 at 3:30 PM · I think you need to relax!

He probably gets alot of news worthy posts that he could put up on the front page.

There is not too many people who are placed on the front page so you shouldn't be pissed at anybody!

March 1, 2007 at 3:53 PM · You are probably right and let me guess, he was too busy to write an email to me stating that very same thing...? I have all the respect in the world for Mr. Niles and i meant no disrespect to him. I appreciate the messages he does put out. I understand that things probably get busy. You say that not too many people get put on the front page, i havent seen since i got an account here, anyone else other than Mr. Niles on the front page.

I am a very calm and relaxed person anthony, i just dont understand when on the website itself saysIF the entry is approved that it will be posted SOON. Now, how soon is soon? I guess i really dont know. I just want to know that if there was something wrong with my entry and it didnt get approved, i want to know what i can do to fix the problem. Thats all. :-)

March 1, 2007 at 7:08 PM · Are you new?

Cause I have never seen you around here! I think you will make a great addition to our disucssion section. To tell you the truth, I didn't even know you could submit stories like that and I have been on here for awhile! Robert writes for some newspaper so he probably is busy right now!

Also, the site tends to be more Universal and Disney slanted. Its probably unfair, but I guess thats what people want to talk about.

I am probably guessing your story will come up very soon!

March 1, 2007 at 10:01 PM · Gee, Iris, maybe it was because we posted that story more than a month ago? Heck, Iris, you even responded to it!

I don't have time to personally respond to every dupe and spam post made to the site. Sorry.

March 1, 2007 at 10:49 PM · LOL! Now Iris, please put down that can of gasoline. Robert, put out your cigarette and run for it!! How's that for getting the thread back on topic? At least I made the hippos laugh. :)
March 2, 2007 at 6:38 AM · Does this gas fight remind anybody of Zoolander?

Thankfully, nobody had to be a EUGOOGLEIZER

Sorry, I am a dork!
