Dollywood to add new action play area for 2009

September 15, 2008, 9:15 PM · More new attraction announcements for the 2009 season:

Dollywood has announced an interactive new attraction for 2009, and I mean interactive in an old-school way. Adventure Mountain will feature three distinct obstacle courses, including rope trails, net ladders and swinging bridges. It's designed for visitors 44 inches and taller, though there will be an additional play area, called Camp Teachittoomee (sound it out), for kids ages 2-6.

At Six Flags Over Georgia, the big development for 2009 will be a revamping of the park's Monster Plantation ride, which will get a rethemed storyline, new music and some new characters in becoming Monster Mansion.

Its always great to see an attraction like that.

September 16, 2008 at 1:42 PM · FWIW, Dollywood is top of my list of parks (outside of my regular SoCal/Orlando rotation) that I really want to go visit and do some first-person reporting at next year. I need to kick myself in the rear and find a way to make that trip happen, though. There's not really an easy, cheap non-stop flight between Knoxville and L.A. that I've found, unfortunately. ;-)
September 16, 2008 at 2:57 PM · Hey, Robert, do you know of any rumors or truths on new SF coasters, anywhere? I saw an article in the paper over the summer on that SF is now more for the younger kids, like family stuff. So, They're trying not to put in any big or good coasters, and maybe not any this year... Can you tell me if you ever get an update?

I was thinking, what about the '08 season? They had Goliath at one of the SF parks in Texas, and Evel Knievel at SFSt.L... Thanks!

September 16, 2008 at 7:06 PM · If you can find a better flight, Robert, take a look at Silver Dollar City in Branson, Missouri. It is owned by the same folks who own Dollywood, and the park is beautiful, customer friendly, has some great attractions, delicious food, toe-tapping good shows, and is worth a couple days of your time. Combine SDC with its sister park, Celebration City (more of a midway park for kids - sadly), and a separate, but fully featured water park called White Water, then you have a vacation destination. Not to mention all the Branson shows and the beautiful Table Rock lake to boot.

Anyway, you don't have to go all the way to Knoxville to get a taste of Dollywood - check out Silver Dollar City, it is definitely worth your time/money.
