Vote of the week: It's party time!

February 5, 2010, 12:09 AM · I'm looking for a theme park angle to the Super Bowl for this week's vote....

Hmmm, there's Holiday World in Indiana versus... well, Jazzland/Six Flags New Orleans closed after Hurricane Katrina. And the Nickelodeon Park idea doesn't seem to be panning out. So that's not gonna work.

There's always New Orleans Square in Disneyland. And, hey, the Indiana Jones Adventure is right next door!

Man, is that a stretch.

Okay, I got nothing.

Seeing as though I skipped a class period in high school to watch the Colts arrive in Indianapolis via those infamous Mayflower moving vans, I got Indy. But I understand that no one outside of Indiana's gonna be rooting for the Colts this time, not with New Orleans as the opponent. Still, I'm putting this up for a vote.

If you haven't submitted a comment to the Blog Flume before, consider this your invitation to de-lurk. Introduce yourself and say a few words. It's time for a party this weekend, so we might as well get it started here. Thanks, as always, for reading Theme Park Insider!

February 5, 2010 at 12:40 AM · Sorry - it's generic, but being Canadian, I'm more stoked about the Sens' 11-streak.

Not to say I won't be watching on Sunday.

Also, is this the first TPI vote with 0% in any category? None I can recall.

February 5, 2010 at 5:33 AM · I've got snow this weekend. Lots and Lots of snow.
February 5, 2010 at 6:17 AM · Never cared about the game, more interested in what companies would pay 2.5 million for 30 sec to put up a commercial and how poorly done most of them are.
February 5, 2010 at 7:37 AM · Have to agree with the first comment. Colts and beer!!! I'm a Cowboys fan from VA, and still rooting for the Colts. The Saints don't get the sympathy vote from me. Go Peyton!
February 5, 2010 at 9:08 AM · Go Colts! I think it will be close early but we'll pull away in the second half in typical Colts fashion. Going to be a good game though! :)
February 5, 2010 at 9:51 AM · Saints all the way! Plus you can never lose with the commercials! Excited about it all, except for the Halftime Show.
February 5, 2010 at 10:34 AM · Well, I'm an Ohio girl and I'll be rooting for the Colts, so there goes the idea of anyone outside of Indiana cheering for the Saints ;) The Saints knocked out my precious Cardinals [I'm still in denial over Kurt Warner's retirement] & then they did the same to Favre & the Vikings. I may pitch a fit if they win the Super Bowl. I'm a fan of Peyton Manning & I'd much rather see him win than the stupid Saints.
February 5, 2010 at 3:18 PM · I won't be watching as I hate football. I don't see what the big deal is. I never see this kind of hype over the NBA Finals, World Series, Stanley Cup, or any other type of sports playoffs.
February 5, 2010 at 10:09 PM · I'm going with the Saints. I don't follow football and like the above post, I can't stand all the hype for one game. But that's why there is the hype right? Most other sports have a 5-7 game final. But the NFL puts it all in one game.

I'm also rooting for interesting commercials. This year, I would not be surprised to see a PALIN 2012 commercial.

February 6, 2010 at 12:32 AM · I, like others, have a hard time picking a winner. Thinking as an educated football follower, I would pick the Colts. Peyton Manning is too smart a player, and has too many weapons to let the Saints win. On the other hand, the Saints are on a roll. They have many pluses that could make the Colts think twice about winning.

I think it will ultimately depend on the defensive lineup for the Colts. But that is me. I am a Saints fan, but a Colts realist. It is hard being me!

Because Tiana told me so.....

February 6, 2010 at 6:37 PM · My father-in-law has avocado trees. His wife is Mexican. If that doesn't spell rockin' guac, I don't know what does. We're going over there to watch on his new big screen. So I voted for chips and snacks, though I'll take the guac. Who needs chips?

Although I'm a fan of Peyton Manning, he's got an idiot for a brother. Yeah, I'm from San Diego. And I also thought Drew Brees got a raw deal from the Chargers. So, if we were allowed more than one choice, the Saints would also be picked.

There's also something to be said about the commercials, how ever few and far between the good ones are.

February 7, 2010 at 8:02 PM · Congratulations to the Saints, and to New Orleans for moving waaay down on the Sports Misery Index.
February 8, 2010 at 2:39 AM · Good game. The Universal commercial looked virtually the same as it appeared on this site. They made very little changes, if any.
February 8, 2010 at 9:54 AM · Ah, the old Sports Misery Index. Do you have an updated one?

Also, could you add Toronto to it? The Raptors, Jays, and Leafs - what a winning combination. I'm sure we make Cleveland look good.

February 8, 2010 at 11:19 AM · I'll post an updated Misery Index on SensibleTalk.com in the next day or two.
February 8, 2010 at 12:01 PM · I had a feeling us Clevelanders would be at #1...heh.
February 9, 2010 at 9:41 AM · I have posted the 2010 update to the Sports Misery Index.
