Disneyland's Captain EO returns Feb. 23

February 19, 2010, 2:53 PM · Disneyland made it official today: Captain EO, the 3-D musical starring the late Michael Jackson (that's still weird to type), will return to Tomorrowland's Magic Eye Theater on Tuesday, Feb. 23 for an indefinite run.

The show replaces the now-closed Honey, I Shrunk the Audience.

February 19, 2010 at 7:10 PM · Was at the park today and volunteared to be interview by Disney for the upcoming return of Captain EO. They were grabbing anyone who is a fan of EO. I tried to barter with them and get information about a soft open, but the lady was very tough to break.

Also, they seem to have been setting up the queue every morning for the attraction and then tearing it down around 2-3pm. The walkway up to Space Mountain is going to be very narrow in the next month. Imagine three queue lanes in that aisle. One for Space Mountain and the other two for EO. (The line will go up to SM FP distro and double back and then head into the main queue in front of theater) Needless to say, that corner of the park is going to very dense starting next week.

From what I've heard the show is a bit weird and may show obvious signs of age, so it will be interesting to see how this is judged by today's standards.

February 21, 2010 at 1:55 PM · At least I don't have to deal with Honey I Shrunk The Audience... It's my least favorite thing in Disneyland.
February 22, 2010 at 1:28 PM · I am so thrilled that Captain EO is returning period. I only got to see it once at Epcot back in 1993. When i went back to Epcot a few years later and I heard it was closed permanently, I was very upset because its a great 3-d movie....much better than Honey, I Shrunk The Audience. Now I know it says returning to "Disneyland" but I have hope that it will return to Epcot too as I live down in Florida so it would be more difficult to get to see it at Disneyland.
