February 21, 2012 at 9:00 AM · I liked Spider-Man, although not as much as many others seem to. But Mummy was still under construction on my last visit, so I had to go with what I know (hey, I'm a poet and don't know it!)
February 21, 2012 at 9:00 AM · If Spiderman doesn't win, there's no point to this competition.
February 21, 2012 at 9:09 AM · Tougher call than I would have imagined. Mummy is one damn good ride, definitely the highlight over at USF for me (sorry, never been a MiB fan.) But, it's Spider-Man, one of the single best rides in the world. With a heavy heart, I vote for Spidey.
February 21, 2012 at 9:12 AM · There are a few attractions that can compete with Revenge of the Mummy for Best Themed Ride.
Spider-Man is not one of them.
February 21, 2012 at 9:20 AM · Mummy really didn't bring anything new to the table, other than the fire ceiling. Spiderman was a life-changing experience for a theme park junkie.
February 21, 2012 at 9:29 AM · This is a brutal 1st round matchup. Spider-Man is amazing, but Revenge of the Mummy brings another element to the awesomeness. I went with Mummy, thinking Spider-Man is getting upset in the 1st round.
February 21, 2012 at 9:30 AM · Dom have you ridden Mummy before?
February 21, 2012 at 9:37 AM · Just on show elements alone Revenge of the Mummy should win: coaster portion w/ launch hill, pyrotechnics, animatronics, fake ending, projection technology. This ride is a mammoth work of showmanship. I am impressed with the ride from queue to exit every time I ride. As for Spiderman, I do like the ride, but it felt a bit run down the last time I rode, and the effect of the motion simulator wears off with time, thus progressively diminishing its reride factor. I like both, but Mummy has stood the test of time for me and remains a standard bearer for good story telling and show craft.
February 21, 2012 at 9:38 AM · Not a fan of Mummy beyond the faux ending. As a coaster it's "meh". Yes, that's the technical term used from Cambridge. So Spider-Man it is!
February 21, 2012 at 9:39 AM · Two great attractions. A pity that they were pitted against each other so early in the tournament. Gotta go with the pre HD Spidey though. It may well be the best pure ride of all time. (The HP Forbidden Journey queu/pre-shows/ride combination is still probably the best)
February 21, 2012 at 9:49 AM · Yesterday's Waterworld vs Clyde and Seymour and now today's matchup...boy are we in for diverse matchups!

That being said, both attractions are fantastic and a step forward for both styles of technology, but I've got to give the edge to Spidey for no other reason than the scene where you seemingly plummet down the side of the building. That ALWAYS screws with my sense of reality.

February 21, 2012 at 9:49 AM · No Justin I haven't. I've been on Spidey countless times though, and most importantly, it's Spiderman.
February 21, 2012 at 9:53 AM · I have a bit of a different opinion on this pairing.

First, although I know there will be pairings that aren't exactly perfect, to me having Spider-Man go against ROM is comparing apples to oranges.

Spider-Man is a total immersion dark ride in my book. ROM is a coaster. They shouldn't be going against each other.

Keep coasters with coasters and dark rides with dark rides.

Just my opinion.

February 21, 2012 at 10:12 AM · The Mummy is great, but there's no contest here. Spiderman is arguably the best theme park attraction in existence, even if you include Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey.
February 21, 2012 at 10:19 AM · The Spider Man ride makes me sick to my stomach. I can't ride it more than once without needing to hurl...The Mummy I can ride over and over and over and love it eveyr time! My kids and I can recite the whole thing from beginning to end. They should remove Spiderman and put in something Harry Potter related (In Orlando)...
February 21, 2012 at 10:29 AM · Come on Spiderman!

Revenge of the Mummy was such a disappointment after all the hype I heard about it. Sub-standard roller coaster, plus an okay dark ride does not make a great ride, IMO.

And I just love Spiderman. I remember going on it when IOA first opened and it was the most impressive ride I'd ever been on. And it's still so much fun.

February 21, 2012 at 10:43 AM · Yep, this is a hard one. Spiderman is an awesome ride and very cutting-edge when it first appeared. But the Mummy blends awesome themeing, great fire elements and a very fun (albiet short) indoor coaster. Plus it's the only ride Universal has that tips its hat to the classic monsters.

Ultimately, I have to go with the one that I consider a "must-ride" everytime I go to Universal. I've been known to skip Spiderman, but not only is the Mummy a "must-ride", it's a "must-ride-several-times". :-)

It's not looking like the vote is going to go my way, but I'll keep my fingers crossed!

February 21, 2012 at 11:06 AM · Yep, Mummy all the way...
February 21, 2012 at 11:16 AM · I voted for The Spider-man Ride Spider-Man Rocks!!!
February 21, 2012 at 12:25 PM · I have to go with the Mummy, I am one of those rare crazy people that doesn't really like Spiderman that much, I think it's a bit overrated!
February 21, 2012 at 12:46 PM · Love them both, but had to go with Spidey though I have to admit I did ride the Mummy more this past trip. I think my head was already looking forward to the new enhanced Spidey, so couldn't quite get into the current one like I normally would.
February 21, 2012 at 1:01 PM · Though the Hollwood version is a letdown, I still went with the Mummy because I prefer coasters to simulators, and though Spiderman is state of the art, it's still a simulator. I also enjoy the dark ride segments on the Mummy.
February 21, 2012 at 1:52 PM · Spiderman really is amazing. To me, its the best, most complete ride experience I have ever gone through. Forbidden journey is the only thing that comes close. I appreciate the creativity of spiderman even more after riding dark castle at BGW. While castle is a good ride and uses many of spiderman's elements, it just doesnt feel as seemlessly put together. As for mummy, the hollywood version is pretty weak, but the Florida version is nothing short of perfect. While I love both these rides, spiderman is just to innovative and fun not to get the vote.
February 21, 2012 at 2:19 PM · My two favorite USO attractions! Ugh, I hate to choose, but when push comes to shove Spider-Man gets the nod.
February 21, 2012 at 3:56 PM · Yeah this will probably be one of my harder decisions to make in the contest because both ride are great! I normally don't ride roller coasters, but the Mummy is one of my few exceptions. It's a perfect mix of dark ride / coaster.
That being said, Spider-Man was one of those rides that completely changed the way that dark rides were made. There was nothing else like it that I had ever been on before. It's the only ride that I use in the same sentence as the Forbidden Journey. And after it's HD upgrade, it's going to be even better!
As much as it pains me to see the Mummy go out this way, Spder-Man is my choice in this match up!
February 21, 2012 at 3:59 PM · I voted for Spider-man but I love both rides. I also love comic books and classic monsters so it was a hard choice for me. The tie breaker? The preshow video that shows you how to load into the SCOOP vehicle. That's comedy gold.
February 21, 2012 at 5:05 PM · Was at Universal for Christmas and eagerly went on Spidey four times in five days. EVERY time there was a major malfunction (ride stopped repeatedly, projections not synced to the Scoop location, no sound in scoop) - VERY disappointing!

Mummy gets my vote for this reason. Hope Spidey's upgrade will include the mechanics as well as the visuals!

February 22, 2012 at 4:46 AM · i love them both but i went for the mummy as the theming of the queue and ride itself to me is better than spiderman's
February 22, 2012 at 10:37 AM · It's Spider-Man people, not Spiderman! Vote for Revenge Of The Mummy, it's a better queue, ride and overall experience.
