'Freddy v. Jason' joins the mix for Universal's Halloween Horror Nights

July 27, 2016, 1:28 PM · Universal Studios Hollywood today announced two more mazes for this year's edition of Halloween Horror Nights, which the park also announced will kick off on Friday, September 16, 2016.

"Freddy vs. Jason" — featuring the iconic villains from the Nightmare on Elm Street and Friday the 13th franchises, will join The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, which previously had been announced for Orlando but not yet for Hollywood. Here's the Freddy vs. Jason hype video, just released by Universal:

Halloween Horror Nights Creative Director John Murdy described the Freddy vs. Jason maze on Twitter:

You'll be thrust into the middle of an epic battle between horror’s greatest slashers, a battle through the twisted landscape of nightmares. A battle that rages across a twisted landscape of nightmares, from the haunted shores of Camp Crystal Lake to the house at 1428 Elm Street. The battle culminates in a final showdown amongst the burned out ruins of an abandoned boiler factory, where Freddy’s evil legacy began! In this fight to the death, someone must WIN and someone must LOSE! Will you make it to the end to find out?

Obviously, we've visited these properties before: 2007, 2008 and 2010. We've done 3 different NOES and F13 mazes during my time at HHN. And some of those mazes included kills from FVJ so this time we wanted to do something completely DIFFERENT, ORIGINAL and NEW! So...this is our original take on FVJ. You get all the iconic elements of both properties but the maze is not literally the FVJ film.

Freddy vs. Jason and The Texas Chain Saw Massacre join Halloween: Hell Comes to Haddonfield, The Exorcist, and plussed version of the park's new The Walking Dead attraction in the Universal Studios Hollywood version of Halloween Horror Nights. Murdy has promised that more maze announcements are coming, including some "New School horror" to go with the classic franchises already announced.
