Mickey Mouse evicts the Jedi at Disney's Hollywood Studios

September 25, 2019, 3:48 PM · Mickey Mouse isn't just getting a new home next year in Disney's Hollywood Studios at the Walt Disney World Resort. He's getting two.

Befitting the Big Cheese in Charge at the House of Mouse, Mickey Mouse will have two new attractions next year at Disney World's third theme park, with a new "Mickey Shorts Theater" joining the previously announced Mickey & Minnie's Runaway Railway.

The Mickey Shorts Theater will replace the Star Wars: Path of the Jedi movie in the ABC Sound Studio theater, which will be redesigned for the new production. Disney isn't releasing any details yet, but the name suggests a new venue where fans can watch Mickey and the gang in action. (Or... maybe try on his clothes?)

But will these be classic Mickey Mouse cartoons, such as those shown at Disneyland's Main Street Cinema? Or will the new theater feature the modern Paul Rudish shorts, now seen on the Disney Channel and online? Or will Disney offer a mix?

Whatever it turns out to be, the Mickey Shorts Theater will open next spring. Mickey & Minnie's Runaway Railway also is slated for a spring debut at the park, after missing its originally announced 2019 opening. That attraction replaces The Great Movie Ride and will be Disney's first theme park ride devoted to Mickey Mouse.
