First test starts on Disney's new Spider-Man roller coaster

September 28, 2026, 12:20 AM · Walt Disney Imagineering has started testing on its new Spider-Man roller coaster at Shanghai Disneyland.

The new coaster will anchor Disney's first Spider-Man-themed land. Disney has yet to announce a name or opening date for the coaster or the land, which will be the latest expansion to the Shanghai Disneyland theme park.

But a train is on the track, and Disney has started push-pull clearance testing, as described in this new video from Walt Disney Imagineering.

The clearance testing is the first step in on-track testing for the new coaster, which has been expected to open sometime next year.

For more on the park, including our advice for visiting, please see Theme Park Insider's What to do at Shanghai Disneyland page.

Given that F&FHD in Orlando just started similar pull through testing a week or 2 ago, it will be interesting to see which of these opens first.
