Cedar Point, Here I Come ( I Think )

Cedar Point: Probably going to Cedar Point next summer, where should I stay?

I made up my mind. For my trip next summer I'm going to CP. I'll probably stay at the Sand Castle Suites. How close is it to the park and do you think I should go to CP instead of any other park?

Sandcastle Suites is right on the island...about a 5 minute walk down the beach to the north gate. Good if you are bringing a few people with you. I would recommend taking a look at the Hotel Breakers...right next to the north gate and right on the beach. Much better atmosphere of the old world variety here. Stay away from the bonn air section of the Breakers and opt for the new wings. I would stay at the Breakers, but that's just me....Sandcastle Suites is indeed a nice hotel.

Sandcastle suite may be nice, but i would definately recommend Breakers. Not only are the rooms pretty decent, u get into the park an hour earlier than everybody else! the walk is not even 2 min. from Breakers to the Magnum entrance (N. entrance) and you can get on dragster really quickly, beating the rush. Sandcastle may have the same, but my stay at Breakers made the Cedar Point visit that much more enjoyable.

I would also recommend Breakers Express if you are looking for really reasonable room rates and don't mind a 1 mile drive to the entrance of CP. Breakers Express isn't the resort type of place that Breakers and Sandcastle Suites are, but if you're planning on spending most of your time at the park itself, it seems to be the most reasonable way to go. I visited a web site (sorry that I cannot remember now what it was!) prior to taking a trip to CP this summer and the reports for Breakers were awful. A lot of people complained that since it is an old hotel, it has a lot of problems--even though it has been renovated. I don't know. Since I haven't personally stayed there, I can't say, but I know the rates alone are outrageous.

Since the Express is still a CP property, you still get the perks of getting in to the park early, special parking, and parking passes. To give you an idea of package options, we got one that included 2 nights in a room, 2 1-day passes, 2 buy one get one free water park passes, parking voucher, 10% off food coupons (for area restaurants), and 2 starlight passes (after 4/5pm admittance) for $281. The second time we went (in mid August) the prices were even cheaper for the same package. You also have the option of purchasing additional park tickets at a discount price at the front desk. As far as amenities, they have a game room, outdoor hot tub, and outdoor pool.

Wherever you decide to stay, I'm sure you won't regret the CP experience!

Does anyone know the cheapest price to get a room at breakers is? I'm looking for the lowest price possible. Also; I wish to only stay there for one night; is that allowed or is there some kind of minimum stay thing?

By Breakes I mean Hotel Breakers, not Breaker's Express. Sorry

No minimum stays at Breakers, however you will get a better rate if you go with one of the package deals. 2006 pricing isn't available, but they do have an older section of the hotel that is very inexpensive. They aren't the greatest rooms, but they are a bed. I don't recommend staying in the Bonn Aire section as it's called, but if price is an issue, it's the lowest they've got at the Breakers. Breakers Express rooms are about 60-70 bucks without a package. Hotel Breakers rooms probably start at about 100 bucks without package deal. It's a location thing.

If you are wanting only one night, I would call and reserve ASAP. Depending on time of year, Breakers is booked pretty solid throughout the summer.
