Six Flags Great Adventure: questioning the over the shoulder restraints in KK

I noticed that when I went on KK this year it seemed to be more bumpy and stuff- I got black and blues from the restraints hitting up against my arms on the way down. I think that the ride would be alot better if they did take of the OTSR's like TTD. It would also add to the expierence.

It is different because of that added camelback hill near the end. It would be to dangerous I think with the TTD restairants going through a air time hill. Just what I think.

I agree, yet it's not that bad. It is faster and higher, and you are correct as well, the added Camel Hump on the end gives a lot of air time at immense speed - you can probably loose a small passanger with out it, in my opinion.

Well, here's a random thought on that (based in my lack of knowledge, so bear with me). Larger guests can't ride TTD because of the restraints. Do the OTSRs allow more people to ride?

Nope because the have lap bars as well attached to the OSTRs to they have to fall perfectly on your thighs. Also I dont even fell the OSTRs.

I think that larger people still CAN'T ride. Tall people to. There is a hieght restraint (I think it is 6"4, but I'm not sure) because their shoulders will push up against the OTSR'S, so it's worse for taller people. I still believe larger people can not ride, though, that's why they have tester seats. Also, I NEVER feel the OTSR'S either. Maybe your just a little on the tall side? I'm kinda tiny, but it never occured to me that they were even there while riding. (To be honest with you, I feel safer with OTSR'S than just a lap bar such as on TTD. Everytime I go to CP I'm afraid of falling out Dragster, lol.

The lap bars alone are plenty of restriant. If you've ever ridden an Intamin with only the lap restraint (i.e. Millenium Force or Top Thrill Dragster) you would know this. I think the whole idea of having the OTSR was just to make it look safer, capitolize in the 'tallest in the world' ads, invite more people to ride it. That's just my take on it so I could be wrong.

I know they're plenty of restraint, but I'm kinda tiny and I just feel as if I'm going to fall out because your so free, which I enjoy, though. It gives you that great airborn sensation, expecially in the front. Yes, KK would most likely look unsafe with out the OTSR'S - I love your reply. I totally agree with you. It also seems to kinda add to the suspense like "Wow, this is going to be crazy, look at all those seat belts!" or something like that.

^ I hate people that always say TTD is better. Maybe he doesn't want to drive out all the way to Ohio just to ride a fricken roller coaster.

^^dave, although this is a wee bit off topic, you don't go to CP just to ride TTD. I think it is an awesome ride(granted I have never ridden KK) but it is really short to ride and long to wait. You go to a park for lots of great coasters, not just one.
