Dollywood: Is it worth visiting then?

We are considering a trip to Gatlinburg, TN within the next couple of weeks and have noticed it's not too far from Pigeon Forge and Dollywood. Is it worth visiting this time of year? I have never been there and have no idea what to expect. How cold does it get? Since we live in central Florida, we haven't really needed to pull out the winter stuff yet. Any advice is appreciated.

you could need the winter gear but then again maybe not. have to watch the weather to find out before you leave home. since it is christmas in the park, not all rides are going. usually the coasters are going if temp is above 40. the shows are christma with smokey mountain christmas my fav show. night before christmas comes in second and is not based on the children's story. if weather is good and you have the time make the trip. i do not make it down until closing week this year. will be crowded thanksgiving weekend.

It'll certainly be colder than what you're used to.

But it's a really nice park with some absolutely stellar coasters (Thunderhead is my #1 wood) and a really pleasant atmosphere.

Oh, and then there's the food. Yeah.
